Re: The 2024 Draft

Amegadjie's mom is from Cameroon and his dad's from Togo or Benin, I forget which. Both Francophone countries (I conflated his background and Odunze's in the Discord discussion, but his dad lived in France for a long time, so it's got to be one of those thin countries between Anglophone Ghana and N...

Re: 2024 Draft: Is This Our Greatest Draft Ever?

1983 was pretty darned good... Jimbo Covert Willie Gault Mike Richardson Dave Duerson Tom Thayer Richard Dent Mark Bortz And none of those players also involved paying an exorbitant salary which come along with Sweat and Allen. On top of that, Finks added .75 Hall of Famers a year throughout his ca...

Re: The 2024 Draft

My only hope for Tevin is that he plays so well and is healthy, he becomes impossible to let go. Maybe we'll cut Davis after this coming season and use that savings to extend Tevin. But then you still have Jones coming due the following season and Wright the year after.... :( It might just come dow...

Re: The 2024 Draft

Just a quick nod to how international this class is. Odunze's grandfather is from Nigeria, and in at least one interview he's said something like "well, you know Ibos, we such-and-so." And his mom's family is from Utah, which sometimes seems like another country. Amegadjie's mom is from Ca...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa

Not sure how much Iowa football any of you guys could stand last year, but for what it's worth, Taylor's a different kind of punter. He's legitimately got a lot of different approaches to the ball and spins it in different ways depending on the situation to help his coverage team. Kind of like Willi...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa

Four picks, three starters (Odunze's going to start at least a couple of games this year) and one extremely promising developmental guy. We'd have been happy with that result from seven or eight picks.

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa

In some drafts, this would've been a reach. In 2024, the late fourth round is where everyone seemed to start picking RBs and Canadian linemen. Instead of a dart throw, we got a guy whose upside is perennial All Pro. Sure, he's a punter, but he's the only guy picked nearly this late in the draft who ...

Like I say at the start of every date and job interview, I consider myself something of a draftnik. Anyway, you might not have heard of him, and that's all rig...

Re: My Guy for the 2024 Draft

Congratulations Karhu, your TE beat out "my guy." Would you still favor Reiman if you knew you could get Theo this much later? It was a weird third round. I wouldn't have considered either guy over Amegadjie, but I thought Reiman was a good pick for the Cardinals. Especially since he thin...

Re: Day 2

The Sweat pick went for Cooper DeJean to the Eagles. Terrific player, but one we didn't really need.

The best part? Green Bay wanted him badly, and bailed out immediately after Philly jumped them. Then a ton of other CBs flew off the board.

Some fans were speculating about Ryan Pace's influence on the Falcons draft. Even after last night.

They just traded up to 2.3 for Ruke Orhorhoro. With Johnny Newton and Michael Hall on the board.

Re: The 2024 Draft

Yeah. Outside of the Bears, I think the Vikings have had the second best draft. Idk, they paid a super steep price for turner. Besides the first round pick they used they gave up 2 - 2nds, a 3rd, a 4th and a 5th for him. That seems like a whole bunch of draft capital for a guy that doesn’t touch th...

Re: The 2024 Draft

The Penix thing still blows my mind. It’s like the whole Glennon/Trubisky situation. Also, I’m absolutely thrilled with the Bears first round. Thrilled. I watched the first twelve picks with my third-grader, and he got into it when I kept guessing stuff correctly. Atlanta stumped me, so I said &quo...

I have to reorient my brain here. We intend to win with offense and out score people. It’s…..huh. Such a foreign concept for me, but should be fun With a pretty darn good defense too. I can't wait! And that defense is going to get more rest and play with more leads than any of its predecessors in r...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC

The more I see of Williams, especially in the off-the-cuff stuff that's come out tonight, the more I think he confused some people not because he's outrageously flamboyant or morbidly self-obsessed or any of the other labels some idiots tried to pin on him, but because he's roughly 61% cool nerd. Re: The 2024 Draft

Vikings could've pulled off a cheaper but comparable version of the Texans' draft from last year. No one saw Stroud's rookie season coming, and McCarthy's not going to equal it, but if they develop him right he could be just as good a long-term QB. If my wife wasn't shopping for divorce lawyers, I'd...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington

So far, we've invested this draft in

Montez Sweat
Keenan Allen
Caleb Williams
Rome Odunze
Ryan Bates
Some guy from Palos Hills or something
N'Keal Harry

Even with the last two guys, that list is obscene.

At this point I make the pick at #9 if one of Alt/Turner/Odunze is available. If they're all gone? Trade as far down as you can where you still can pick a player in your cloud. 24 hours to go boys!!! I'm kinda in this boat. I dont think this is a deep draft. Why not try for 2 starters from the top ...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

Not sure that I'd compare Williams and McGregor. To me, he's more like (Chicago's own, kind of) Emanuel Augustus: smart, crafty, and self-disciplined in a way that can be difficult to appreciate when he seems to go completely off-script. No such thing as too much Augustus or too much Micky Ward, or...
