I went through the loss of my own wife many years ago so I can relate to this article.

last two years i've been taking care of my neighbor a bit, who's a 96 year old ww2 vet. his wife of 72 years died 3 years ago and he's just sort of puttering around waiting to die himself but his body refuses to give up.

i'm just going to assume my wife and i are going to die at the exact same moment and not have to deal with that shit.

Seriously, though. That's tough stuff for Tommie.

But he comes off very well in that article.
I had a vague impression of him as kind of a dim bulb.

Great. Like I needed to cry today....

I echo Mori's sentiments, I thought he was a fairly dumb bastard. This article disavows that notion on many different levels.

Anybody who uses such a tragedy for personal growth has my well wishes and admiration.
