I disagree with MoFugger. I think the Falcons come to Chicago, and take their come from behind loss in the Superbowl frustrations out on the disorganized Bears. This one will get ugly early. Matty Ice is going to absolutely demolish the Bears secondary. Glennon will have more picks than TD's. It's game that, unfortunately for Bears fans, will set the tone for the season with Glennon under center.

Bears 15

* Glennon throws for over 300 yards, but also throws 3 interceptions

* Sanchez in relief goes 2 for 10, 12 yards, and 2 additional ints

* Connor Barf breaks big toe on kicking foot after trying for his 6th field goal from 60 yards

Ugly early for both teams. Bears D looks impressive early. Bears O looks vanilla early and dinks and dunks the entire game. Howard is shut down as the Bears have no other threat to call upon. Glennon gets hit a ton but survives the game.

Ryan and Freeman turn it up in the 2nd half and ATL pulls away.

I think it's closer than that.

Bears lead early 17-0, but Falcons storm back once Bears offense routinely goes 3-and-out, tiring the defense to their limit.

Falcons get up big, 28 - 3 in the first half on a series of fumbling, stumbling and bumbling QB play of the bears.

Bears storm back in the 2nd half after glennon and sanchez are hurt behind the rookie to win 34-28

I think we win this one, boys. Ryan struggled against cover 2 behind a fierce pass rush and that's what I am expecting Fangio to do (or some zone derivative). I think Matt Ryan was a fluke last season (literally a statistical outlier) and Sarkisian as a play caller is a huge step down form Shanahan.

I think Bears win ugly with a strong defensive effort and a ground and pound offensive attack.

Bears defense keeps them in the game for a while, but Glennon looks like garbage and can't get the offense to do literally anything. Howard scores once but otherwise goes nowhere because Miller is the only other weapon. Defense tires at the end and the Falcons get two late scores to put it on ice.

Subsequent season long QB controversy begins.

I think it'll be close until half time, but the defense gets gassed in the second half as the offense just can't sustain many drives. Bears score late to make the game appear closer than it really was.

I think we lose a close one. The Bears will try to play keep away from the Falcons offense with their dink and dunk passing game along with their potent rushing attack. Therefore, I see a low scoring affair and see it as a close game all the way to the end.

I think we're up 24-10 late in the game, when Gabriel breaks open for a TD and the Falcons grab a 2pt. conversion. We get a great KO return and manage to grind some clock down to just under 2 minutes before we have to punt. Matty Ice drives the offense to the 50 at just over a minute remaining and Floyd makes him throw early to the waiting arms of Jackson...game over

Bears win 24-18

Haha. Well put.

I'm completely torn between wanting him to play so well that we can trade him for a pick after the season and wanting him to totally bomb so we see Trubisky sooner.

I think this will resemble the opener vs GB in 2015, which nobody gave us a prayer in.

We come out early fired up, and make a few plays. Perhaps lead at half, like we did in that 2015 game. Then things just kind of slowly get away from us. Glennon has a chance to go down the field late to tie, but the drive never really gets off the ground. I think we have a good showing.

The Bears do have that going for them.

Saw a tweet from a Bears beat reporter earlier this offseason (can't find it now). It said something along the lines of:

Of the past 17 Super Bowl losers, nine of them started the following season on the road. The combined record of those nine teams is 1-8 to start the season.

Those numbers are probably off, but the point is, in this era of football, Super Bowl losers who have started the following season on the road have not fared well in that game.

For all of those that are calling this a close game, or God forbid a Bears victory. What in the holy hell are all of you free-basing? The Bears ARE NOT a good team. Their defense is untested. I don't think we have ONE receiver on the team that would be a 5th or 6th receiver on the top 15 teams in the league. We have a QB that has never led a team, and has not proven that he can 1) throw the ball with any accuracy beyond 15 yards, and 2) can keep a play alive with his feet AT ALL.

I appreciate the enthusiasm and optimism, but we are all about to get a strong dose of reality on Sunday. This game will NOT be pretty. Glennon will not be able to move the offense with any success, and the Bears defense will be gassed by the 3rd quarter. The Falcons have one of the best offenses in the league. We are about to get housed. If we lose by less than 20, consider it a victory.

Sorry, just a little reality check.

BWN, some peeps are just optimists, drink the kool aid and just hope upon hope that this team will be something. Others, see it for what it is, a below avg mutha f*cking team. The Bears are years away from being any type of consistent winner who can threaten to go deep into the playoffs.

So let's discuss this a bit. I'm a diehard Bears fan, but also extremely pessimistic about many things regarding the team, and in some regards feel the organization deserves losses/dwindling ticket sales/punishments of this nature as comeuppance for so vigorously fucking up the franchise.

Would I rather the Bears win 10+ games every year? Well DUH. Of course. I'd rather be a content with a competitive team that is always hovering around the playoffs, maybe bursting toward a title run every scattered handful of years when the planets align.

That said, the team operates in a way that makes me furious. I am extremely okay with Ryan Pace, and at times with John Fox/coaches, but I'm simply exhausted of the insulting manner of fan treatment. I'm going to write up a thing about this soon, but essentially the Bears brass would rather the fans keep their mouths shut and be satisfied there's any football at all. They definitely don't want anyone asking smart questions.
