There's some bullshit up here.

Bears coach John Fox cites legal reasons for not disclosing the exact nature of Dion Sims' illness. We have reached a new low.

When asked by a reporter if TE Dion Sims was able to exercise today, as he did yesterday, John Fox responded by saying Sims was tired.
He hasn't practiced the past two weeks with what the Bears are calling an illness.

John Fox asked about Dion Sims’ mysterious illness:
“He was tired today.”
Fox admits that he’s being evasive about Sims, which gets laughs.
But good Q from @BradBiggs: “Why even let him in the building if this illness is so bad?”
@patrickfinley

John Fox cops to being evasive about TE Dion Sims' "illness," but claims there are laws against him specific. HIPA?
Dion Sims is ill, & John Fox can't "legally" disclose info.

apparently Sims didn't wrap up before adventuring into the world of prostitution?

HIPAA is a real thing, if Sims indeed is ill Fox legally cannot tell us what that is, it would be a violation of Sims' rights.

but by him saying that, isn't he still sort of putting Sims out on a limb?
why not just say he has an illness, he is being treated and there is no further information at this time?

It's not. He's kind of an idiot though... "Dion Sims has an illness, legally I can't disclose the nature of it, but just know he has an illness and I'll let you know of any updates if/when they happen".

Why does it matter if he's sick? If he don't want people to know deal with it, it's not our business and should be between him and his doctor. If it's an injury then they have to say what it is though right? Maybe he caught Mono or pink eye, it don't matter because he can't catch CHIT out on the field, can't block either. Fk Sims

I understand HIPAA completely, but what illness could a guy have that lets him in the building but prevents him from practicing or playing? It's gotta be a skin disease or something transmittable from blood or saliva.
It seems that he did say that. Then was pressed about it, and put into a corner.Boris13c wrote:G08 wrote:HIPAA is a real thing, if Sims indeed is ill Fox legally cannot tell us what that is, it would be a violation of Sims' rights.

Not sure what else you want. Everyone knew Sims was/is sick. The media was trying to find out what it's all about, and Fox kept his mouth shut. As it would appear he's legally in a bind to do so.
I mean, I don't see where anyone isn't doing their job here. Kind of just a non-story.

Agreed non-story. Mods, lock this one down!

it is team related news coupled with a curious manner in which the team is speaking about it ... so yeah, that seems a team related point of interest
as to the details of his illness, no, we don't really care (or I don't) ... but I do care about how the head coach can continue to simply bumble his way through even simple stuff

Okay, there's pessimism... there's disliking a coach... then there's just looking for a reason.
Give me a break. lol
I'm not even saying that it's not worth acknowledging as being something that you simply don't hear everyday. However, trying to spin this into another anti-Fox crying thread is ridiculous. I want him gone like the next guy, but yeesh.

Guys. We are speculating and guessing about an illness to a 4th string TE, who wouldn't make a roster anywhere else. Who gives a crap.

That's what I was going to say. But who knows?G08 wrote:Gun to my head I would guess it's mono.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

I would also go with mono. It's not contagious in a football setting and probably why Fox said "they're not worried about that part right now". Fox also used the phrase "he's tired", mono causes extreme fatigue and can last a month. I feel this may be a blessing in disguise, it gets Shaheen on the field more. He sure looked good with the ball in his hands.Mikefive wrote:That's what I was going to say. But who knows?G08 wrote:Gun to my head I would guess it's mono.

If he's ordering Papa John's, that usually means he's sustained some type of head trauma.

MRSA sucks. I had it four years ago as a result of an infection I got when a tumor on a disc in my back burst.
