As long as Marcus Cooper isn't defending Alshon, I'm fine with it. Couldn't understand why Cooper was covering Marvin Jones in the 2nd Quarter when he's barely played all season. That oversight led to Jones smoking Cooper on a double move for a TD.

So Floyd is out for a while and Freeney just got cut by the Hawks.... I can't be the only one who would love to see that dude come to Chicago for a bit surely!?

Maybe if we were in the hunt for anything but we're not. I'd rather see a young guy in there for potential than anything personallyskamanfrank wrote:So Floyd is out for a while and Freeney just got cut by the Hawks.... What the fuck is this - I thought we cornered the market on ignorance...skamanfrank wrote:So Floyd is out for a while and Freeney just got cut by the Hawks.... I can't be the only one who would love to see that dude come to Chicago for a bit surely!?

We didn't corner the market, but we DID elect it to the white house.Wounded Bear wrote:What the fuck is this - I thought we cornered the market on ignorance...skamanfrank wrote:So Floyd is out for a while and Freeney just got cut by the Hawks.... agreed ... 2017 is a lost cause so this Bears team needs to get any available young player on the roster playing time to use the remaining games as a live evaluation period to be better prepared for 2018 ... no need to bring in any veteran free agent to increase faint glimmers of wins to less faint glimmers of wins

People always get confused by the terminology of this, and the dishonest and/or incomplete information sharing of most NFL teams doesn't help.UOK wrote:http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/fo ... story.html
Sounds like two sprained ligaments for Floyd that may require surgery, but the simple fact there's no tears is good news. Guessing he'll be shut down for the year regardless.
But "sprain" does not mean "not torn". All but the very mildest "sprains" are tears.

A sprain is a stretch or tear in a ligament. Ligaments are bands of fibrous tissue that connect bones to bones at joints.
Based on what Fox said, it's a pretty safe assumption that what Floyd has is not simply stretching. If you have a sprain, your doctor may mention its “grade”:
Grade I is stretching of the ligament or a very mild tear, with little or no instability at the joint.
Grade II is a more serious but still incomplete tear, with some looseness in the joint.
Grade III is a completely torn or ruptured ligament. This is not a broken bone, but can feel like one since it’s often impossible to put weight on the joint or use the affected limb because the joint isn’t stable.
Floyd injured his medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments (MCL and PCL), coach John Fox said Monday evening on his weekly radio show on WBBM-AM 780.
Fox hinted that Floyd would miss the rest of the season and would have surgery, but he did not go so far as to specify or clarify that.
“It’s going to be some time until he can come back, if at all the rest of this season,” Fox said. “We’ll kind of measure that as we go. But it was good to hear it wasn’t the ACL. It was MCL, PCL. It will require some work to get him fixed, but obviously better news that the total reconstruction.”

Back on topic, my reading of the reports so far would indicate it's a grade II sprain and I'm pretty happy with that compared to what I was fearing. I still think he's shut down for the season with it as the games he could be back for will be pretty meaningless so it isn't worth the risk. He'd be better served getting healthy and stronger without having to deal with post game niggles.
Still a pity as it's all good experience for him.
