The best pure right tackle was probably Big Cat or Fred Miller.
John Tait I believed played some RT for awhile as well. Massie's in the mix, but I'm quite sure you could do better.
Who's the Bears Best RT in the SB era?

That'd make him the 2nd highest paid RT on football.
Resign, sure, for that much, no thanks!

Tackles get the brunt of more irrational hatred than (perhaps) any other position in sports.wab wrote:Massie was one of the highest rated RT's in the NFL with average at best coaching. Imagine what he'll be with the best OL coach in the NFL working with him.
When I read the irrational hatred for this guy, I understand what people feel when they read my irrational hatred for Leno (which is at least based in historical fact, but admittedly has waned).
Replace him? I want them to resign him.
This is because the majority of fans only notice tackles when they false start or allow a sack.
Tait/Reuben Brown/Kruetz/Garza/Miller was a very, very good line during the mid-00's before falling off a cliff in 07. They were an older group, so that was to be expected at some point.UOK wrote:The best pure right tackle was probably Big Cat or Fred Miller.

I think by the time Tait got pushed over to the right side, he was about finished. Maybe I am remembering incorrectly, but that's how I recall it.

Yes and no... You may or may not be senile, but not on the basis of this memory. Tait was shifted to the right side in an unsuccessful attempt to prolong his career. He was OK there (he was never elite anywhere) but that was his last year.Richie wrote:I think by the time Tait got pushed over to the right side, he was about finished. I'm reserving my opinion of Massie for when he gets to play a Bears season with an offense not designed to be cutting edge in the 1940s. I think between Big Cat and Van Horn it's a toss up
