I'm in the minority here but I'm glad it wasn't us.
I'm curious AF to see if he gets a new contract and what it winds up being.
Robinson or Watkins if Pace wants to make a splash!
Update: Landry traded to Browns

Honestly i didnt want him if the price was my first born child.alexwilkins wrote:Honestly, I didn’t want him if the price was Jordan Howard.
Despite what the lunch lady at the Dolphin's practice facility said, the price was never either of these things!

If those draft picks were significant, that's why the Browns are the Browns.
I'm glad we can cross Landry off of our list. He was a real outlier.

I wouldn't have wanted Landry in free agency, much less for mid-round picks.
Cleveland has done such a good job of saving cap space... then they just dump 15 mil per season of it into Landry. Not a great move, IMO. However, that being said... Gordon, Landry, Coleman, Njoku and someone like Barkley. To put around a young QB with their other 1st round pick? Not bad.

Looks like Robinson and Watkins are going to be the gems.
We clearly need a WR, San Fran does as well... not sure who else our serious competition will be

I fully anticipate the Bears not signing any of these guys.
They'll get the guy from the Chiefs and a few scrubby dudes who are cheap and 1-year worthy. They're looking draft, and I don't blame them.

I disagree. I don't think Pace can afford the risk of a draft pick being able to produce in year 1. Watkins or Robinson gives Chicago a #1 right away. I understand the injury risk with these guys, but going into next year without proven weapons would be insane. Also, it gives the draft pick time to develop without the pressure to produce. Hell, that may benefit Kevin White as well.UOK wrote:I fully anticipate the Bears not signing any of these guys.

Man I hope you're wrong here. We can't go into next season with a perpetually banged up Kevin White, a WR coming off torn knee ligaments in Cameron Meredith, and a mediocre-but-possibly-ascending Albert Wilson while hoping to hit on a Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, or DJ Moore in the draft.UOK wrote:I fully anticipate the Bears not signing any of these guys.

Especially with having the 3rd most cap space in the league right now... that's just God-awful management by Pace in my opinion.
He's got to land one of Robinson or Watkins. Absolutely has to because it not only ups our talent it shows the fan-base he's committed to surrounding Trubisky with proven talent.

Absolutely. As I said, the only reason not to push for these guys would be if Pace has inside info which puts the health of both in doubt. What was the real reason why the Jags didn't tag ARob? And why is Watkins unable to stick with a team?G08 wrote:Man I hope you're wrong here. Even if we had a third round pick, which we don't, I wouldn't pay that.UOK wrote:The price:

I was told a third and a future mid rounder.
So basically a third and fourth is what I'm assuming. Pass.
I'm fine with hoping to sign Watkins or Robinson along with Wilson. I'm serious about making a move for Tavon Austin if the Rams cut him. Obviously not as a #1, but if we got Wilson and Austin I would consider that a serious win.

I was high on Austin coming out of the draft, but in talking to a bunch of Rams fans he was awful at tracking the deep ball. They were thrilled to get rid of him so he comes with a bunch of question marks. But hey, if he's cheap and willing to come in on a one-year deal? I'd do it.The Marshall Plan wrote:Even if we had a third round pick, which we don't, I wouldn't pay that.UOK wrote:The price:

Personally I would like to see us make a hard run at Robinson, and draft a WR in the second or 3rd round. Surely at some point Whites bones quit breaking right? lol
Lets be honest, this year isnt the year we make an amazing run and go to the NFC championship game, right?
So, lets make some moves that lets our young QB learn his new offense, our young RBs and current WRs learn it as well....and lets grow our defense and O line......and make runs for the next couple of years...
It doesnt have to ALL be fixed THIS year. Lets get pieces in place first...

The thing with Robinson is that we could still sign a burner in the draft if we want. DJ Moore could be there in the 2nd round for us, and I think DJ Chark might even be available in round 3 if there isn't a run on WRs.

I hate to say it, but this looks more and more like the reality of the Bears WR future. I'm with you on the Bears not trading for Landry. Great move by Pace not getting sucked into trading away draft picks on a high dollar demanding WR.G08 wrote:Man I hope you're wrong here. All these Howard trade talks were all click bate BS, I never even bought it for a second.

The Bears also don’t have a 3rd pick. Either way, I’m not a huge Chark fan.

Well... the deal was essentially a salary dump for Miami. Everyone knew he was gone. They had no leverage. Every team dealing for Landry also knew they would then be on the hook for dealing out a big contract.RustyTrubisky wrote:dolphins got a measly 4th this year and a 7th next year.

As much as I wanted Landry, at least now I don’t have to keep reading this stupid Howard for Landry mock drafts from Erik Lambert.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
The #Browns and WR Jarvis Landry are going to agree to terms on a 5-year, $75.5M extension, sources say. He gets $47M guaranteed… crazy for those who considered him a slot receiver.
