Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Fit the offense? What are you talking a bout? His skills set can work in basically every system other then the wishbone.G08 wrote:They would be stupid to let him go... and I'm terrified he isn't a fit in our offense

Looking at his Combine and pro day numbers in 2014 (and assuming his knee recovers), Allen Robinson would seen to fit Nagy's offense very well. He meets all the thresholds (sub 4.51 40 time, 35.5+ inch vertical, 10'+ broad jump) and a ridiculous 3-cone time of 6.54.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the dude, I just worry Nagy is going to want shorter/faster dudes.mmmc_35 wrote:Fit the offense? What are you talking a bout? Had a 4.60 dash at the Combine, but redeemed himself with a 4.47 at his Pro Day so that certainly helps. The 6.54 cone is redonk.

Is Nagy and Pace going to want multiple starter WR's coming off ACLs that most likely won't be able to participate in offseason program and training camp while instilling a new offense with a young QB?

Sometimes you need to adapt the system for the type of talent you have. We're in a situation with a shit ton of cap room and we need talent.G08 wrote:They would be stupid to let him go... and I'm terrified he isn't a fit in our offense
I'm surprised Jax is letting him go, but we need to get players.

This is my issue with bringing in Robinson.southdakbearfan wrote:Is Nagy and Pace going to want multiple starter WR's coming off ACLs that most likely won't be able to participate in offseason program and training camp while instilling a new offense with a young QB?
I’d be willing to deal to add a guy with his talent. Plus they both got hurt so early they should be good to go for training camp. Might be sidelined for the offseason stuff though.wab wrote:This is my issue with bringing in Robinson.southdakbearfan wrote:Is Nagy and Pace going to want multiple starter WR's coming off ACLs that most likely won't be able to participate in offseason program and training camp while instilling a new offense with a young QB?
Edit: specifically on Cam, this article says he should be ready for training camp. Robinson was only hurt a couple weeks later:
https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/fiv ... mbine/amp/Cam Meredith (knee surgery) will be built up during the organized team activity period and ready for training camp.

If he could produce, I would love him. But there is still a large percentage of NFL players that never make it back from ACL injuries and the drop off in performance is real.
Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore and Jeremy Maclin are the outliers and not the norm. But, on a whole it's not as surefire of a return to previous performance that many make it out to be these days.
I glance through a couple articles from the last 3 years and all three said about the same thing for NFL WR's and RB's, 20% never make it back, performance drop off is about 1 tier on average (probowl prior = average starter after) and that career longevity is about 2 years less.
I would imagine those numbers are improving all the time as the surgery itself, rehab and other things improve over time. Hell it wasn't that many years ago and ACL was a career ender for sure. Also there is the caveat that all ACL injuries are definitely not the same because of the differences in the amount of damage to other ligaments, nerves, meniscus and other parts of the joint.

It wouldn't hurt if he posted a vid on twitter of him doing some route running, catching and cutting, "to show us fans (in Jacksonville), that he's doing well". Make the blind dash at midnight :00.01 to sign a contract more palatable.mmmc_35 wrote:Well I think he should be target numero uno.

Gah, all of these guys comes with so many questions.
Is Robinson healthy?
Is Landry a #1 WR
Is Watkins ever going to be consistent
Is Wilson an upgrade over Wright

My first questions would be this. Why not? What do the Jags know that we don't?Mikefive wrote:Ian Rapoport says that ARob won't be tagged.

Regarding Allen Robinson, the first one is my big concern. Why aren't the Jags tagging him.wab wrote:Gah, all of these guys comes with so many questions.

They have cap issues, and putting the tag on him would severely limit what they can do the rest of free agency. That's my take on it anyways.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:My first questions would be this. That their cap situation isn’t that great?Bears Whiskey Nut wrote:My first questions would be this. Why not? What do the Jags know that we don't?Mikefive wrote:Ian Rapoport says that ARob won't be tagged.

They also had some young WR's step up who will be cheaper.

Maybe because they almost made it to the superbowl without him? Maybe they seem themselves as a running team? Maybe they dont think their QB can get the ball to their WRs consistently enough to tag a WR at that price? lol who knows?

Landry isn’t a free agent any more though, so he could have been at the time.wab wrote:Just a week ago they were reporting that Landry was their #1 FA Target.G08 wrote:Brad Biggs: Allen Robinson is believed to be the Bears #1 target in FA at WR
