I know it's probably not how it would work, but it would be nice if we could just do a contract downgrade with Sims and keep him. He's the exact kind of guy we could really use along side Burton and Shaheen--a strong blocker who can catch a ball if called upon. Every indication is that he's a good character guy. They may be talking to him about that now before they have to cut him.southdakbearfan wrote:Just because of dollars I think Sims is gone.

I don't think Sims should go because of money. I think he goes because you have faith in Shaheen to do his job for him. If Sims stays, it means Nagy doesn't see shit in Shaheen.

It doesn't need to be black/white - and you're completely discounting Sims talent/value.
He is a damn good TE that was as caught up in our former OC's ineptitude as anyone else.
I hope the Bears can get something for him if they are intent on removing him from the roster - but i don't think it would be a bad idea to hang on to him either.
Holy Shit - We got Justin Fields!

@Rich_Campbell
Burton on leaving the Super Bowl champs for a team that's 14-34 in the last three seasons. What does he see in this new group? "You can never underestimate how important youth is."
@MattEurich
Trey Burton noted the youth and the city of Chicago as reasons to why he came to a team that has lost so much in the last three years.
@RobertZeglinski
"The city's ready for a championship. They have a great quarterback, a young quarterback. And an aggressive head coach. They're ready to win right now,"
Burton discussing the Bears' contention window.
He'll wear #80.

And they were paying more than the Eagles were going to.
This is going to be one tough ass division. Back to the Black and Blue Division. These North teams are going to beat the snot out of each other. Lets hope the Bears can stay out of the cellar on a consistent basis now.

Of course he is. He’s like the 5th or 6th highest paid tight end in the NFL now.Mikefive wrote:Short interview. He sounds truly excited!
