My favorite 57 of all time. He was an iron man. Only missed 5 of 123 while in the Bear uniform.
I was looking for Lee Kunz pics but couldn't find any. Shocker, uh?

Hewitt must have been a stud to have the # retired and be in the HOF. Not a very long career especially with Bears (5 yrs). The # was retired in '49. That is why it was impossible to find anyone else who wore it.

Hewitt was a solid offensive player, but on defense he was one of the best ends in the league. He was so quick that he earned the nickname “The Offside Kid” because he was in the opponents backfield so soon after the snap that he appeared to be offsides. They didn’t keep accurate defensive stats in the 30s, but it is estimated that Hewitt accounted for over 300 yards lost in ’33! Hewitt was named 1st team All-NFL in 4 of his 5 seasons with the Bears (32,33,34,36). He decided to retire after the ’36 season, but the Eagles owner offered to double his salary ($200!) so the Bears traded Hewitt to the Eagles for the 1st overall pick in the draft. Hewitt played 3 more seasons with the Eagles and was 1st team All-NFL in two of them before retiring again after the 1939 season. Hewitt was inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously in 1971.

My guy, my favorite 55. At one time he was the all time leader in games played. He had a a great 14 year career. Played in Butkus' shadow awhile. 24 career ints and over 1200 tackles.

Hicks was a starter in 42 of 64 games he played with the Bears, 1976-80. He was 6'4" and 235, LB out of the U of IL. He played with Ross Brupbacher and Waymond Bryant and Buffone. Don Rives was also an LB at the time (in 76).
Retired in 1981.

He only wore 54 for 2 yrs (1960 and 61) before switching to #83. He was listed as a K, LB and C. As a kicker he was 37-49 in FG for the Bears. He played in Chicago from 1960-66. Finished his career by playing one year in Denver. he was only a 51% FG kicker for the Bears. Pretty sad.

Me either. I’ll have to Google “Bears who wore #54.”UOK wrote:I honestly can't think of anyone good who wore 54.
Maybe I’ll go through everyone registered on this site to see if anyone has an avatar of a Bear wearing #54.

Bobbie Gray, decent depth guy that never made a splash.
Jamar Williams, not bad at all. Quality depth.
Blake Constanzo, special teams specialist.
Christian Jones, hell of a player.

Another center that wore #52, Rich Coady. His first year in 1970, he played TE and scored 1 TD. Started the next 3 yrs, every game at C. Pretty talented dude. His first yr he wore #37 (keep that in mind)
