The Bears have not announced any roster moves coming out of their three-day rookie minicamp.

There were 30 players who got a look on a tryout basis, but the Bears are near the point where they will have to cut a player to sign a player.

The Bears have 74 players under contract and that does not include restricted free agent Danieal Manning or the five unsigned draft picks. The roster limit is 80 and draft picks do not count until they have signed. So, after Manning signs his RFA tender and after the team signs its final draft pick, the Bears will be at the roster limit of 80. The Bears' goal is to have all draft picks signed, sealed and delivered by May 28. Manning is out of leverage so he could sign at any point now. It's really a formality.
There still could be a little roster movement between now and the end of the voluntary offseason workout program next month, but what you see now is primarily what you will see when training camp opens July 30 at Olivet Nazarene in Bourbonnais.

Offensive coordinator Mike Martz has kept alive the possibility of a veteran quarterback who is familiar with his scheme joining the mix. The Bears have been monitoring what is available in the way of offensive linemen and defensive backs.

Coach Lovie Smith said Sunday that three tryout players had caught his eye. Whether anyone performed well enough to return with a contract, we'll have to wait and see. But at this point there isn't a lot of wiggle room with the roster, especially once draft picks start joining the fold. That won't take long. It took less than five weeks for contract negotiator Cliff Stein to sign seven of the team's nine draft picks a year ago. Jarron Gilbert and Juaquin Iglesias were under contract by June 10, and the team hopes to move up the timetable this spring.
