I wonder is Scott is calling them both asking what's in for him if he give it up.

Caleb wore 18 in high school I believe. Doubtful he would take #1 given the guy vacating the position just had it.

I heard he's asking for $20k this year and $40k next year but will probably have to settle for a conditional $6k next year instead.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 3:56 pmI wonder is Scott is calling them both asking what's in for him if he give it up.

They’d have to ‘un-retire’ number 3Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 7:05 pmThat was my thinking as well. Maybe number 3?southdakbearfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 5:24 pm Caleb wore 18 in high school I believe. Doubtful he would take #1 given the guy vacating the position just had it.
Maybe less likely than give him #1

I think Williams will go with 15-19. I don't think it's a big deal.
OR He'll make a deal with Keenan Allen since they apparently know each other pretty well already and work something out.

I posted this elsewhere but this is likely the better place.
CW starts off with 0, he then adds to it each time he wins a Super Bowl. So in '25 he will be #1. When he retires he will have #13.

There might just be a problem when he wins his 3rd, 5th and 7th Super Bowls.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 9:10 am I posted this elsewhere but this is likely the better place.

Yeah I didn't think that all the way through. Maybe when he wins three he can just go 2* for his jersey number. Likely have to get some sort of waiver.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 12:22 pmThere might just be a problem when he wins his 3rd, 5th and 7th Super Bowls.Arkansasbear wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 9:10 am I posted this elsewhere but this is likely the better place.

While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.

I thought the kid had limited snaps in his rookie year and when I saw a recent interview of him he seemed like a really good guy.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:11 pm While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.

Hope you're not lumping in with that group. Mine was just a joke. I think he under performed last year, but he was a 4th (??) round pick and I tend to think WR is the hardest position to step in and have an impact as a rookie. He had limited snaps, but I think he could help next season. Hopefully he can help take the top off and let Moore and Allen do their thing. He's not a true super burner but he's got 4.4 speed.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:11 pm While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.

If CW wanted to score some points in the locker room he might defer to Allen's seniority in the NFL and let him wear the #13 jersey. I don't think he's want #1 either being that was JF's jersey. So maybe #11 or #9?

I think that's his play. Remember JJ's comments a few days ago about CW having to earn respect in the locker room? Stepping aside to give the number to Allen would be a great first step along those lines. It would show humility, maturity and leadership.
I wonder how hung up (if at all) he is on #13?

I didn't much like the pick at the time, and he did nothing to convince me otherwise.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:11 pm While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.
But he still has time to make me eat my words.

I wouldn’t say down on him, just the reality that the 4th or 5th WR isn’t going to have a choice, if it comes down to it, to keep#13. Allen or Williams may pay him to keep the peace, but if he went all butthole on it the team would just tell him to eff off and give him another number.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:11 pm While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.

1. If Caleb Williams is a top 5 QB, Tyler Scott can develop into a 500-600 yard guy.
2. Even before the Allen move, Caleb has made comments about not wearing 13. I have a feeling he wanted 0 or 1…I’d like to see him in #4. Part of me thinking 0 would be great, part of me hates it. One thing I know is I don’t want him changing numbers throughout his career

I've wanted to talk about this for awhile (because people have been shitting on Tyler for awhile), but good QB play obviously makes the entire offense function better. Players NEED consistency, and Tyler Scott's job his rookie year was:
-Run your route, safe in the knowledge that unless you have 10 yards of separation the chances of the ball coming your way is slim to none.
-After you've finished your route, turn around and figure out on the fly: should you be scrambling or trying to block the nearest player in the secondary?
That's just not a situation that anyone not named DJ Moore is going to thrive in, as a receiver OR an offensive lineman.
I'm not gonna be IE and call people idiots for doubting the brilliance of Tyler Scott, but I've seen enough people over the last few weeks, in various threads, tossing out there that his roster spot is/should be in jeopardy cause he sucks, and that seems both unfair and extremely short sighted. A few gaffes for a 4th round rookie in an offense that is 85% chaos feels pretty reasonable to me.

Releasing Scott isn’t happening. He was a rookie, buried on the depth chart, in a run first offense, and a dominant #1 WR that ate up the majority of the passing targets. It’s that simple. We can stop blaming Fields for everything Rusty, these factors are far more relevant. I agree that we simply don’t know on Scott yet and there’s no reason to be giving up on the guy, he should improve a lot in Y2 as most WRs do. But with DJ, Keenan, and Kmet he’s going to have a hard time finding targets.

One thing I do know is that Tyler Scott seems like a great guy. The type of guy who deserves a shot.
He was a day 3 draft pick who will never give us an iota of bother and will always give his all for the team.
Those are guys I want on my roster, f- the numbers, he’s a team guy.

Who is saying that? I'm one of the most critical here of Scott and I like him. I just think he should be the #4 or 5 next season, not the #3. He showed nothing last year that should just hand him the job. We are one injury/father time catching up to having a sub par receiving room.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 8:12 amI've wanted to talk about this for awhile (because people have been shitting on Tyler for awhile), but good QB play obviously makes the entire offense function better. I hope Scott can develop and become a #3 when Allen leaves and the rookie we hopefully draft this year becomes the #2. I want to be ahead of the game with developing receivers for Caleb not behind.
None of that is shitting on Scott
