#AZCardinals coach Bruce Arians officially retires in an emotional press conference. “It’s been a great ride. … I will miss the game.”

What might have been with that guy a few years ago huh?

Sad. Hopefully he's happy with his decision.

With regards to Arians and the Bears management style, they WANTED HIM TO DO A MOCK PRESS CONFERENCE.

You fucking kidding me? He allegedly just laughed and withdrew his name from consideration.

LOLLLLLLL so fuckin good

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/10/29/ ... ith-bears/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For one, (Arians) was asked to do a mock news conference in the course of his interview. Apparently it wasn’t enough that he was the reigning coach of the year after taking over the Colts and had been doing news conferences all year.

The mock news conference was a variation on the actual news conferences that the Bears requested of Smith and runner-up Russ Grimm in 2004 after failing to come to terms with Nick Saban. The message is that perception matters as much as performance to the Bears.

If you know only one thing about Bruce Arians, know that we pulled this little league shit, and he made a jerk off motion and said fuck off.

If I had to guess, I'd say it shakes out like this...

Oakland - Jon Gruden (so dumb)
Detroit - Teryl Austin (keeps Stafford happy with the majority of the staff in place)
Chicago - John DiFilippo (makes too much sense)
New York Giants - Matt Patricia (they want so badly to be the Pats)
Inidianapolis - Dave Toub (the Ballard connection is there and Nagy might not be ready)
Arizona - Pat Shurmur (respected and somewhat established coach that will have a QB in his pocket)

Leaves Nagy and McDaniels on the outside looking in. Nagy and McDaniels both seem like good candidates to stick around their current teams and potentially take over for their head coaches at some point.

I think there's too much about Reich and his personality that teams aren't going to like.

as he should have

interesting the organization would put appearing to have a clue (via press conference ability) over actually having a clue (wins on the field) ... that is truly some sad shit

I don’t remember Trestman being a particularly interesting listen on the podium. So that was a failure all around.

Jim Wyatt‏ @jwyattsports

The @Titans have reached a deal with Mike Vrabel (@CoachVrabel50) to become the team’s new head coach.

I heard that Shurmur is going to the Giants. Wow. I was pretty sure the consensus on this board was that he was headed for the Cardinals. So who goes to AZ? McDaniels?

Just another reason why Pace was so awesome in grabbing his guy right away.

shurmur to the giants has been a done deal for a couple of days now. mcdaniels is supposedly going to the colts, patricia to the lions. cards are the only mystery.

The Cardinals are expected to seek permission for second interviews with at least two assistants coaching in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4.

Team President Michael Bidwill and General Manager Steve Keim want second interviews with Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores and Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, according to sources. The Cardinals interviewed Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz during the first week of their search, but he doesn’t appear to be in the Cardinals’ plans now.

So Flip to AZ maybe? I don't see that as working out...that team is kind of in shambles. Reminds me of when Trestman came to the Bears. An aged team like the Bears, except in cap hell.

or steve wilks apparently?

The Cardinals may have their next head coach in place pretty soon.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals are “closing in” on a deal with Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Wilks has interviewed with the team twice since Bruce Arians announced his retirement and Bill Voth of the Panthers’ website suggested things were moving toward a deal earlier on Monday.

Good for him. OC is a natural progression for him, so I wish him luck (except against the Bears).

That's an Adam Gase signing. Assuming the Vikes offense continues an upward trend, he'll be a HC next January.
