This reminds me of the days where the Raiders would pursue and overpay the free agent du jour (like when Larry Brown of the Cowboys was Super Bowl MVP and the Raiders paid him). It was all for the publicity.

I can't handle sports radio because of the meatball fans and the rude hosts, but I can only imagine how many people will call The Score and complain that the Bears didn't sign Gruden.

I saw this earlier today and I've been racking my brain trying to think of some coaches.

What about Marv Levy? Don Schula?

I'm not defending Gruden at all. I totally agree he's overrated.

Jeff Fisher and Brian Billick are/were more overrated than Gruden is IMO.

After the team played a glitzy highlight reel of Gruden's previous stint with the Raiders, Davis introduced the once-and-future coach to a hoard of media members and former players after nearly 17 years adrift.

The Raiders famously traded Gruden to Tampa Bay in 2002, where he proceeded to beat Oakland in the Super Bowl. After seven years with the Buccaneers, Gruden was fired. He spent the past nine seasons in a broadcast booth as a color commentator for ESPN's Monday Night Football.
