@MarkMaske
NFL competition committee is discussing the possibility of limiting defensive pass interference penalties to, at most, 15 yards.
@judybattista
More Comp Comm: looking at potentially more ejections for fighting. Committee has also taken long look at a targeting rule. Also looked at changing DPI from spot foul to 15 yards. Also expect to see more calls for illegal contact to try to limit amount of hand fighting.

Pass interference should always be 15 yards and a 1st down. Guys like Aaron Rodgers abuse the shit out of that rule.

Flagrant PI - 15 yds, auto 1st
Incidental PI - 5 yds, repeat of down
edit: More updates
The NFL competition committee appears to have unanimous agreement that controversial catch rulings involving Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson should have been ruled complete, according to Giants owner John Mara. So the committee is working on changing the rule to relax the "going to the ground" requirement.

yeah ... I want it to be clear enough that idiot-assed Al Riveron is not involved all that much because most every time he is, things get weirdRustyTrubisky wrote:PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE finally get this right.UOK wrote:

and I still to this day say Calvin Johnson, sitting on his ass in the endzone in Chicago with the ball clearly in his hands, scored a TD on that play and no amount "continuation of the catch" bullshit is going to change my mind
that is what the NFL needs to get clear ... where the call on the field passes the eye test ... have the calls make sense at game speed and forget this super duper extra slo-mo nonsense because that does not help at all (see Al Riveron's supper slo mo errors on the Zach Miller explanation where the dumbass wasn't even pointing to the football while saying the football was on the ground)

Playing Rule Article 8: It is a foul if a player lowers his head to initiate and make contact with his helmet against an opponent. The player may be disqualified. Applies to any player anywhere on the field. The player may be disqualified.

Uggghhh, this is going to cause so many problems. Everytime a safety lowers a shoulder and grazes someone with his helmet it's going to be a potential call.UOK wrote:@NFLprguy

This is about leading with the crown of the helmet. Not about lowering your shoulder, head up. If the red can see your face mask, it shouldn’t be a foul.RustyTrubisky wrote:Uggghhh, this is going to cause so many problems. NFL owners passed a rule to eliminate the requirement that teams kick an extra point or go for two after a score at the end of regulation. There is no reason now to clear the field and pull players out of the locker room for a meaningless kneel-down.
