As long as it's football advice and not parenting advice, sure.Magnum_Ursus wrote:Valuable adviceG08 wrote:wab wrote: Get a kid and throw him into the fire.
I would prefer that kid to be someone besides Brad Kaaya, though.

What you don't see in the picture is 2 dlinemen about to light him up. Yet he stands tall in the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield. Damn impressiveG08 wrote:Huh. Could have sworn that was Jimmy ClausenAdipost wrote:Saw this on Reddit. Kaaya in high school.

You realize how skittish he is in the pocket, right? I'm talking he found a way to incorporate "tuck and cover" into his throwing motion when he feels pressure/is about to get hit.Adipost wrote:What you don't see in the picture is 2 dlinemen about to light him up. I have circled back to this as a potential reality. Pace wants his Drew Brees, and our system values a QB that can scan the field and get the ball out quickly/on time.UOK wrote:Well, he's going to be a Bear in late April, so better just get used to it.G08 wrote:I just don't fucking like him.
I suppose I'd be okay with him in the third... but our first two picks had better fucking be home runs.

If we draft him, I am going to dub him "Footsteps Falco" until he proves he isn't going to be all happy feet in the pocket...G08 wrote:I have circled back to this as a potential reality. And again, the people who think that Kaaya can not improve his pocket movement/awareness based off of the 2016 season in which his offensive line completely fell apart, CFB film room did an in depth analysis of his 2015 season and concluded that he was actually ELITE in the pocket.

And also, someone did a report where they compared 2016 Mitch Trubisky to 2015 Brad Kaaya. I can't find the link right now, but it was a pretty equal comparison as they both played in a similar offense at the time. Well, Trubisky is praised for his stats under pressure. He was 2nd in college football with a 68% adjusted completion percentage under pressure. He also boasted a 15.8% sack percentage under pressure, one of the lowest in the league. In the same type of offense in 2015, Kaaya had a 64% adjusted completion percentage under pressure and had a ridiculous 11% sack percentage under pressure.
Conclusion
Kaaya's 2016 problems under pressure are an outlier. Kaaya is worlds better than the flavor of the month guys like Davis Webb and Nathan Peterman.

How does one "win" the combine? Did they simulate a fake pass rush and he didn't automatically start crying and do his patented chuck and duck? Is that what you mean by win?Adipost wrote:Kaaya just won the combine.

It's because someone at the end of the video he posted in another thread said Brad Kaaya at the end of the video, so of course Kaaya had best day, even though most rumors had Watson blowing up the combine with his throws. But hey at least this has sorta quelled the "Kizer is greatest QB to ever enter this draft" talk because his deep throws forced all the WRs to slow down.G08 wrote:?Adipost wrote:Kaaya just won the combine.

I did think that Kayaa looked pretty good. I had it Watson, Trubisky, Kayaa but I didn't see hardly anything of Mahomes.
EDIT: And since the knock on Kayaa is dealing with pressure I'd take his performance with an even bigger pinch of salt.

I did too and wasn't really impressed with anyone in the first group... the fact that Kaaya didn't blow this out of the water when he was supposed to be the most polished QB in the group...G08 wrote:He looked good in the clips but I was watching it live and Kaaya missed a ton of throws.
Even though I got a good laugh whenever Bucky Brooks said he felt Kizer was the QB1 because he has prototypical size...
It's 2017 and I swear these guys are still pulling the same crap they did in 1998... that's what you kept hearing about Ryan Leaf "he has prototypical size"

I want: Watson in round 1
I'll settle: Kizer in round 2 / Kaaya in round 3
Watson looked fucking smooth throwing the ball, mechanically sound, he's already a proven winner in college and by all accounts should crush interviews. I'm the type of dude that takes a man at his word; if my GM is saying, "We want someone who elevates his program like Drew Brees did at Purdue" and then declines to draft a kid that helped his team win their first Natty since 1981, then he is a God damned liar.
What the fuck more does Pace want?
If he wants to hedge the pick with Mike Glennon, then hey I get it. Let the soon to be 22 year old Watson marinate for a season and see if you get lucky with Glennon... but to risk taking a QB like Watson because you wanted to draft Jamal Adams / Jonathan Allen? Come on...

There is something to be said for a kid who has shined on the biggest CFB stage not once but twice. Kid is smart, talented, a hard worker and a leader. And he looked excellent at the combine.G08 wrote:I want: Watson in round 1

If the only knock is "he threw too many interceptions," I'm confident that can be coached out of him. He's done everything else anybody could ask for.

I'm pretty much with you here. Watson does sound very Brees like in retrospective comparison. I still prefer Mahomes, even at #3 but they're the two I wouldn't mind now.
There's just something about Trubisky that I don't like...

I don't know what it is about Trubisky that I don't really like either. I get a JP Losman vibe.

I don't know what combine y'all were watching. There was one drill where he didn't complete a pass, but even the analysts pointed out that the drill was more about form and footwork than anything. It's like you guys don't WANT to like Kaaya. He was far and away the best of the first group.

Where who didn't complete a pass? And I don't care how well Kaaya's form looks when he is throwing in a drill without rushers coming at him because this is what's going to happen the majority of time he sniffs any pressurealexwilkins wrote:I don't know what combine y'all were watching.
