He does seem very relaxed and comfortable.

However, "pissed about the pick" and "wasn't told what the plan was until a few hours in advance" are totally different things.

Posters are just flat-out talking out of their asses if they think they psychically know how the team organization functions (or dysfunctions).

This is sort of a discussion i've been thinking about trying to start for awhile now.

Basically the day Fox was hired most people looked at each other and said: "well, he's obviously a stop gap." "Too old, wont be around in a few years." "This was forced on an inexperienced gm, the next coach will be his choice."

And since that day, PEOPLE have been looking for any chance to validate that perspective. Last year was just a non-stop barrage of "FOX IS GETTING FIRED" despite no real sign of any discord between Fox and Pace. I cant really think of a moment in any of their two interactions where they didnt look like two guys who were being forced to work together. When a coach and a GM actually hate each other, you hear about! In this day and age there's just no way that stuff doesnt get out.

More and more I think, Fox isnt actually a guy who wants dictatorial control over the roster. I sort of suspect his roster input never strays that far from "just find me some damn football players." And I think this frustrates people, because we havent been very good. We invent drama in the absence of any. Hell, how many times has John been called a lame duck coach despite having two years on his contract left?

Isn't John Fox the one who said he never watched Jimmy Clausen play before he drafted him?
What does that have to do with anything?

Was Fox in charge of the draft? Pretty sure Marty Hurney was, you know, the GM.

Here is a very well written and researched article that officially debunks this stupid narrative

According to B/R on Insider Buzz Fox knew they were picking Trubisky. What he did not know was about the trade to number 2. The original story appears to have been a tempest in a teapot.
