I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

Poona Ford being left off the list of invites is a joke. Kid dominated at the East/West Shrine and then had a tremendous week of practice at the Senior Bowl. He's going to be a steal for someone.
Holy Shit - We got Justin Fields!

In my former life I was known as FencikFanatic.

Oh, and if you were wondering - yes I'm real. And I'm fantastic.

So far reading through some of the early profiles:

Saquon Barkley is comped to Barry Sanders
Tremaine Edmunds is comped to Brian Urlacher
Baker Mayfield is comped to Doug Flutie
Sam Darnold is comped to Andrew Luck
Calvin Ridley is comped to Marvin Harrison
Quentin Nelson is comped to Larry Allen

high praise for most of these

I think both honestly.

Originally, I thought Edmunds was strictly an ILB, which I don't know if that is such a pressing need. However, I do think putting someone opposite Floyd is the #1 priority. If Edmunds can play there, as you think he can, he becomes a player of interest to me. Do you think he stays put in the top 10, or is he a guy that if Pace trades back you can find him in the teens?

I've been kicking around the idea of bringing in Trent Murphy in FA to start opposite Floyd in base downs, I'd have Edmunds inside next to Trevathan. Kawasaki can provide depth along with your boy Jonesy.

Then in sub I'd have both Floyd and Edmunds rushing the passer.

I'm still going back and forth between Nelson and Edmunds. Jackson too depending on what shakes out with the corners.

The good news is, the Bears are in a pretty good spot in the draft. As many as 12 teams could be in the market for a QB at some point during FA and the draft.

I looked up what was available on Trent Murphy while doing my free agent mock on spotrac. Trent Murphy at times looks like Von Miller, and that's great. But too often he looks like Trent Murphy and that's not so great.

I'd rate him as slightly above average before his injury last year

Edmunds, Jackson, Fitzpatrick, Chubb... I'd be good with any of 'em.

G08:

I like your list (though I'm presently on the fence with Edmunds), but assuming there's no way to Chubb/Fitzpatrick are still there at #8 would you trade down if it meant Key/Davenport or Ward???

9 sacks in 2016 while playing limited snaps... tore his ACL/MCL last year in the pre-season. I don't expect Washington to bring him back and I like the upside in signing him to a fairly cheap deal.

I don't know if Murphy will be all that cheap. However if he is I all down for it.

Is he that much better than Houston? I wouldn't say no at the right price but his 2016 performance of 9 sacks of 60% of snaps isn't that much better than Houston this year with 5 sacks from 36% of snaps or 2015 with 8 from 40%.

Houston also makes more tackles and is better in the run game. He's 3 years older but I genuinely think he's well poised to step up as a later career cameo player.

I'm focused mostly on youth, price, and upside.

Edge isn't one of the positions I'm massively concerned about youth in. Only 10 3-4 OLBs played 75%+ snaps this year. Of those 10 a couple weren't all that (Jabaal Sheard, Bud Dupree) and a couple were 31 or older (Orakpo and Suggs).

Only 24 players played 50% or more.

This is why I'd love to see both Houston and McPhee back on cheap deals and draft a kid with speed. Rather than have passing down specialists we'd have a couple of guys who are great against the run on early downs but can still get into the backfield. This is a good time to buy low and then we manage their snaps.

It won't happen but a boy can dream!

Who do you like at #8? I think Joshua Jackson or Denzel Ward are good options if you don't want to go EDGE. I think Nelson won't fall.

If we go edge, hoping for Harold Landry. No one talks about him, but he's an excellent pass rusher and is decent against the run at 6'3 250.

I've watched Edmunds tape, and I just don't see it. Show me something to convince me otherwise. The guy neglects his assignments constantly, he rarely rushed the passer, and he stood still a lot.

He's got the measurables, but at 8? Or anywhere in the 1st? No thanks

He's got a lot of good tape, a few plays each game that just says bleh, and 1-2 plays a game where he just misses his assignment. He's got the measurables, and he's going to be one of the youngest prospects to get drafted in a few years. That tells me that things aren't at the stage where he is pure instint yet and still thinks about what he's seeing some times instead of knowing. That will come by being in the film room more and being able to trust the guys around him to do their job so he can concentrate on his own.

I think he's a top 10 pick. I don't see Pace trading back in the draft.

Cblaz, the athleticism and ridiculous range doesn't jump off the tape at you? That alone made me stop and rub my eyes. Then I look for things like how he is able to get from one hash to the sideline and up the field to cover a RB running a wheel route, or how he lines up in the slot to cover a WR and winds up breaking on a pass that he could have picked off.

He's a solid blitzer from the ILB position and he's got the bend and length I want in an OLB/EDGE rusher. This kid is a stud in that regard, but he IS a 19 year old ball of clay. I'd have zero issues -- none -- handing that over to Vic Fangio and telling him to make this kid a star.

Crazy to think that a 19 year old could be drafted so high.
