Where was this SHUTDOWN defense during the Trestman era?

And we have other needs...but I'd LOVE to see linebaccker Roquan Smith in a Bears uniform.

Sony Michel would be a nice compliment to Howard too.

Because he’s facing Jalen Hurts and not real NFL caliber QB’s.

He should’ve been promoted to HC after Trestman was fired. Obvi.

Pfft....because you can have too many?

And Cohen? He's a gadget. Not a compliment.

And for a team devoid of talent at WR and of need in other spots you don't waste draft picks on another running back when you have a good one and a compliment already.

I was gonna say, "yeah, that's a Mel Tucker defense all right," but that's not entirely fair because the game plan he had for Jalen Hurts was very good. Putting Tua Tagovailoa in was a great move on Saban's part (playing Hurts over him, less so), and is frankly a lot of what we should have seen with Trubisky this season.

Of course, John Fox is no Nick Saban.

Yes, you can have too many RB's. Most teams carry three. After NO, we probably have the best 3 (top-to-bottom, overall) in the entire NFL. You could certainly make that argument. All bring unique skill-sets, and serve their purpose beautifully.

Howard - 1st and 2nd down power back, moves the chains
Cohen - Receiving RB, change of pace runner and gadget player who you can move around
Cunningham - Best pass-pro back, very good in all things related to the passing game

We have all of the bases covered at RB. There are 22 positions on offense and defense combined. RB is 22nd on our list of needs. With our main two RB's being 22 and 23 years old, you could argue that nobody needs a RB LESS than we do.

So, stop being ridiculous. Like you are in the rest of your posts.

Where have I seen a team lose a season-deciding game on a blown coverage before? Hmm...

Meh, this is Smart's defense ultimately. Dead giveaway is that they're a primarily 3-4 front, which Tucker was moreso inclined to 4-down.

I can't believe Georgia hired him in the first place. I wonder if he knows anybody there.

Smith at #8 wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I think day 1 of the draft should be BPA and if the guy is there at #8 that argument can be made.

Got beat by a QB who shouldn’t even have touched a football this year.

I actually doubt Mel is a bad coach. He got brought here under shitty terms, and likely isn't an NFL DC quality.

They had established defense that was fucking old.
It wasn't his primary scheme.

He had defensive leaders who viewed him poorly because he was not Lovie Smith

He had a weak ass HC who makes a guy a "Captain" after destroying a practice.

Sure it was above his head and I wouldn't hire him in the NFL. However that was a dumpster fire.

Yeah my bad. Once Joe Tungalickyvolvo got in the game...it was over for ol Melvin. Can't handle REAL QBs.

The best 3 in the league...lol.

It's YOU who needs to stop being ridiculous.

Howard and Cohen are good. Cunningham is SERVICEABLE. But certainly not "probably the best".
