I knew Shaw had given up 8 to Glennon, but why did Bullard give 74 to Robertson-Harris?

Bullard wore #90 at Florida, but #74 isn't a linebacker number. Is RR-H not a linebacker anymore? I know Jared Allen kept #69 as an LB because he was a DE the year before.

I really want to see what RRH can do. Wouldn't that be a coup if you get an undrafted guy who can play at a premier position?
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Agree completely.

But wouldn't it also be fun to start rumors about why he didn't play last year?

#90 suits Bullard better anyways. I always thought #74 was a horrible DL number.

Does anyone hope they told Roy to, Dbol up, and play the 5?

Someone has to snap the streak... plus there were a couple backup QBs who moved to new teams and wore 8 and did pretty well in their new homes... (yeah I know it's a reach but come on, live in the Happy Bear World with me for a minute) they would be Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell and a guy named Steve Young... as no one would ever mistake Steve Young for Mike Glennon, maybe we have stumbled upon our own Hasselbeck or Brunell... optimism!

Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell and Steve Young never played in Chicago but I guess I see your point ... Glennon coming in from free agency to wear it as opposed to being drafted and besmirching it may make a difference

if Glennon can equal Matt Hasselbeck, then I guess he could be considered a successful breaker of the curse

That's a weird # to give RRH....but until they start cutting guys there's no more #90 numbers.

It leads me to believe they're moving him to 5 technique. By rule down lineman have to wear numbers in the 60s, 70s or 90s, linebackers can wear 40-59 or 90-99. So in theory if they were keeping him at linebacker they could give him a number in the 50s rather then a down lineman number.

But of course those rules aren't in effect until the pre-season, so it could mean nothing.

Yeah it's weird for sure... RRH is too small to play the 5. Dude's an OLB through and through, IMO.

Not that we didn't know, but giving away his number confirms Marquess Wilson isn't coming back?

He can't stay healthy so that wouldn't bother me any.

Well that makes me kind of happy. It may not work out but if it does, to at least a situational guy, its a big help with this defensive line make up.

Based on how little they've addressed the from 3, I'd have to say they're going to take a 5 technique pretty early, or they are really high on Bullard. Especially with Goldman struggling to stay healthy. Hicks is great but they have a lot of question marks otherwise.

Bears DL contract status

Hicks 1 Year
Unrein 1 Year
Jenkins 1 Year
Wilson 1 Year
Goldman 2 Years
Bullard 3 years

Sutton 1 Year
Ferguson 1 Year
Lewis-Moore 1 Year
Robertson-Harris 2 Years

Based solely in those you have to expect someone will be drafted. It will be nice if Unrein, Wilson, and Harris fought for that sixth spot with a rookie taking a starting roll.

It should be Solomon Thomas or Jonathan Allen (assuming they are OK with his shoulders).

Well, keep in mind those speed numbers are him 30 pounds smaller. Who knows how much they change at this new size.
Still, with his height and having been a DLman in college, I think this is probably a better 34 fit for him (although 43 DE could be his best fit).

Interesting indeed. I've thought doing something similar with someone like Taco Charlton or Tanoh Kpassagnon or (maybe) Deatrich Wise Jr made sense this year — similar frame and speed.

90 became available to Bullard after Cornelius Washington signed wtih the Lions... that left 74 open for Robertson-Harris.
