I would suspect his market will be strong with teams that missed out on some of the top wr names early in free agency.

Huh, there were some rumblings over the last few days that he'd get released (and lotta empty speculation that ARob was trying to recruit him here), but I didnt believe it.

He doesn't fit the role that Gabriel will fill, and I don't think he's better than Meredith (when healthy), and I don't know if he'd take less to be here in a lesser role. If Meredith was out of the picture, then I'd be all for it...
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

And he has his own injury woes. this is pretty much where i am too. If Meredith comes back from his injury I want to lock him up long term.Atkins&Rebel wrote:He doesn't fit the role that Gabriel will fill, and I don't think he's better than Meredith (when healthy), and I don't know if he'd take less to be here in a lesser role. Weren't the Bears rumored to be interested in trading for him in the preseason when Meredith went down? I think the Jags stopped shopping him when Robinson got hurt.
Still. Pass. Unless we are trying for some sort of all-injured team.

Wab, I like the "all-injured team" comment. When you seriously look at both the Bears #1 and #2 receivers, they're coming off significant knee injuries. As we all know to well, White has also had problems staying healthy. At this point Gabriel is the Bears healthiest starting caliber receiver. The Bears will have a good amount of cap designated toward a a group of receivers that may have more questions than answers at this point. With that said, I don't think the Bears want to tie up anymore money to the position, especially towards another receiver that's has had his own injury problems. I'll pass.

If they do bring in Hurns, it means they are probably done with Meredith.

They're prepared for that, I'm sure. In my mind I'd rather keep Meredith and see what he can offer, but if they're hearing about offers for him that are more than Hurns would request, makes sense.wab wrote:If they do bring in Hurns, it means they are probably done with Meredith.

I'd like to see Meredith stay obviously. But who knows what the market for him is or what offers they've got. Considering the money already spent on Robinson and Gabriel, and that Nagy has said White is his personal reclamation project...I could see them moving on.

I'm not sure I see this happening unless someone has a set-back (God forbid). Still only one football to go around and I'd have to think a heavy chunk will be to Howard, Robinson, Gabriel, Burton and Cohen to name a select few. That still leaves Shaheen, White and Meredith on the outside looking in for targets.

I don't see the problem with going after Hurns and also retaining Meredith. Bellamy and Kendall Wright would be the odd people out and I'm okay with that.

I have no idea what Hurns is asking/expecting - but I'm not turning away any talented offensive player that wants to sign here. Even a guy who missed 6 games last year. Hurns is a more established receiver than Meredith - who everyone is penciling in as our #2.
Holy Shit - We got Justin Fields!

Oh, and if you were wondering - yes I'm real. And I'm fantastic.

I think technically we're penciling in Meredith as a #3

And really he'll be closer to a 4 with the amount of targets Burton should be seeing...RustyTrubisky wrote:I think technically we're penciling in Meredith as a #3

Allen Hurns confirms on @wfnz that the Bears ARE one of the teams that have reached out to him. It was the first team he listed when they asked him.

Who has a higher ceiling? Hurns or Meredith?
Pre-ACL: Meredith, without a single questionThe Marshall Plan wrote:Who has a higher ceiling? Hurns or Meredith?
Post-ACL: I still go Meredith... but there's that lingering doubt
A lot of this has to do with the fact that I am rather certain we have seen Hurns ceiling already.

ohhh man, jets have alot of money and their top receiver is like quincy enunwa. i'd be surprised if they arent writing him a blank check.UOK wrote:Schefter says he's visiting w/ the Jets first.
Robby Anderson is kind of a beast, to be honest.RustyTrubisky wrote:ohhh man, jets have alot of money and their top receiver is like quincy enunwa. i'd be surprised if they arent writing him a blank check.UOK wrote:Schefter says he's visiting w/ the Jets first.
