11 + 23 = 2010 points, halfway between picks 3 and 4. No 3rd round pick for the Queens so maybe a 2025 2nd and try to trade up with the Pats?

I think they are targeting the Cards/Chargers pick. If MHJ goes #3 to the Pats, then AZ or LA may want to move down to get a WR later. LA also needs defensive linemen.

Yeah this move, to me, portends their desire for a top 3 or 4 pick -- QB.
Williams
Daniels/Maye
Maye/Daniels
MHJ (trade?)
WR (trade?)
QB (trade?)

I think the Maye-to-the-Vikings thing is mostly driven by the Fact that Josh McCown is the Vikes QB coach, and he also coached Maye in high school.
But I do agree that Washington goes with Daniels.

The Vikes signed Darnold, who has pretty much performed at a mediocre level his career. But maybe McConnell thinks he can draft a couple of blue chippers to give him more targets (taking a page from the Bears?) and resurrect his career, a Geno Smith act in Minny. Plus Minnesota signed a couple of DL to replace guys they lost, maybe they snag a DE or even DT to shore up their DL.

The Patriots might have a bad roster that includes lots of FA bust veterans so, if I was their GM, I would have a placeholder quarterback throwing to Juju and Kendrick Bourne this year while I start to turn it over. I guess a rookie could sit behind Brissett and learn the offense... if you think that's the offense you're going to run in two years with an entirely new skill position group.

I think the Pats should draft Alt or one of MHJ/Nabers. Let Brissett be the placeholder during the reset.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 9:52 amThe Patriots might have a bad roster that includes lots of FA bust veterans so, if I was their GM, I would have a placeholder quarterback throwing to Juju and Kendrick Bourne this year while I start to turn it over. Let's hope it happens and whoever they take is a bust. When you give up that much draft capital for a player and it fails, you have to get lucky like the 49ers to avoid falling into the pits of being awful.

In Allbright's mock draft 3 of the 4 QBs are going to teams who stuck and picked. That feels unlikely to me. Obv the Bears get to pick their favorite and the Commanders PROBABLY like 1 of the other 3 but seriously the vikings are so sure that their 3rd favorite guy is worth all this maneuvering? And the Giants are just like "oh perfect I wanted JJ the whole time"? I dunno. I think at least one guy is going to slide and it's gonna get weird

Pretty much every mock has Williams going first, then Maye and Daniels--in whatever order. And, as weird as that seems, that's probably how it's gonna go, seeing that the Commanders traded Sam Howell and the Patriots traded Mac Jones. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the QBs fall, though. As that always seems to happen. As to what the Vikings are up to--that's a tough call. Maybe they have something set up with the Cardinals? Maybe the Vikings are happy with any of the four QBs?crueltyabc wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 4:58 pm In Allbright's mock draft 3 of the 4 QBs are going to teams who stuck and picked. And I agree that this draft will most likely get weird--one way, or another. Not on the Bears side of things, though. Praise the football gods for that one.

I would imagine the Vikings moving up hinges on who the Commanders take. If they take Daniels, I think the Vikings make a push to move up for Maye.
After the Mac Jones thing, the Pats may be content to roll with Brissett in a reset year and take a guy like Rattler outside of R1. They REALLY need an OT and a WR and could address both of those...and still get a QB if they trade back from 3 with Minny.
If the Commanders take Maye, the Vikings might be content to sit for a bit and see what happens with JJ.

Saw another mock draft today in which the Cards trade Murray and a 3rd to the Vikes for #11 and take McCarthy at #4. Any draft in which QBs go 1-4 will definitely help the Bears at #9.

I really hope the Vikings trade up to take the 4th QB. I think it's a terrible waste of resources for them. 2 or 3 of these top 4 QBs are probably going to be busts. Since Caleb is going to excel the Vikings chances of drafting a dud are even better.

I guess I'll add to this thread:
So AZ at 4 and LAC at 5 are both pimping their picks...but only for exorbitant amounts.
Giants may be really happy if they both price themselves out of any trades.
GBN wrote:Bolts looking for big haul for 5th pick … LA Chargers’ GM Joe Hortiz confirmed at his pre-draft presser yesterday that the Chargers are definitely amenable to trading down from the 5th pick in next week’s draft. Hortiz, though, made it pretty clear that he’s not just giving the pick away. Indeed, he said the Chargers weren’t at all interested in what he called a ‘fair trade’ presumably based on the standard draft trade chart. Instead, he indicated that the Chargers will be looking for what haul over market value.

No harm in seeing what the market will bear. You might land a Carolina-level trade.
Of course, teams always demand a high price, until push comes to shove and the market isn't what they hoped. And then suddenly they don't.

If the Vikings trade up, and AZ trades out of the top 10, does Joe Alt fall to the Bears at 9? You can't pass on him if that 's the case.
