QB - Glennon, Sanchez, Trubisky
RB - Howard, Cohen, Cunningham
WR - Cruz, Meredith, Wheaton, Wright, White, Bellamy, Thompson
TE - Miller, Sims, Shaheen
T - Leno Jr., Massie, Sowell
G - Long, Sitton, Morgan, Grasu
C - Whitehair

K - Barth

LS - Scales

DE - Hicks, Bullard, Unrein, Wilson
NT - Goldman, Jenkins
OLB - Young, Floyd, Houston, Acho
ILB - Freeman, Trevethan, Kwiatkowski, Jones, Timu
CB - Amukamara, Cooper, Callahan, Fuller, McManis, LeBlanc, Jones-Quartey

I could see them trying to move Miller prior to the season if anyone will give anything.

Unrein might be another to go, but yeah pretty much.

I think Brown makes it over Miller...not as polished but future upside there.

Doubtful. Miller's a legit mismatch when healthy. Daniel Brown's a guy you could maybe stash on a PS, but chances are good he'll catch on as depth/ST when some team takes him off the waiver pile.

HJQ isn't a corner, and neither he nor Prosinski will (should) make it over Bush/Hall. I'm also going to assume you think McPhee is going to start out the year on the PUP.

Miller hasn't done a lot in preseason, but Brown hasn't really done enough to justify cutting Miller. They've used a lot of formations with a FB, so I'd guess Burton makes it somewhere.

Also, Pace generally keeps at least one UDFA. My guess is that's Gentry.

I'm surprised to see Roy Robertson-Harris not making the cut on these. Also, I think Cunningham will make it in place of FB Burton, it'd be a shame to cut Cunningham after he's shown to be a playmaker on offense and special teams.

I think Thompson makes the team. He's made some nice catches in preseason, and he's been a hell of a return guy.

Some pretty big names in there especially Jaye Howard, P.McPhee and only keeping 3 RB's when i think we're gonna run the crap out of the ball.

How is HJQ gonna backup EJax at FS when he's a big hitting SS?? A.Amos isn't getting cut, he'll be the first safety off the bench for either SS or FS.

I could see Burton make it over Brown, the Bears could keep 9 linemen but would have to cut a DR. Timu and Jones is a toss up. Hall, Webb, Banks DHC could work out a bunch of ways. However this is my guess right now.

53 man roster

Glennon, Mike Sanchez, Mark Trubisky, Mitch
Howard, Jordan Langford, Jeremy Cohen, Tarik Cunningham, Benny
Miller, Zach Brown, Daniel
Sims, Dion Shaheen, Adam
Meredith, Cameron Wright, Kendall
White, Kevin Thompson, Deonte
Wheaton, Markus Cruz, Victor
Leno Jr., Charles Sowell, Bradley
Long, Kyle
Whitehair, Cody Grasu, Hroniss
Sitton, Josh
Massie, Bobby Compton, Tom

Hicks, Akiem Howard Jr., Jaye
Goldman, Eddie Jenkins, John
Unrein, Mitch Bullard, Jonathan
Young, Willie McPhee, Pernell Houston, Lamarr
Trevathan, Danny Jones, Christian
Freeman, Jerrell Kwiatkoski, Nick
Floyd, Leonard Acho, Sam
Amukamara, Prince Fuller, Kyle
Cooper, Marcus Callahan, Bryce
LeBlanc, Cre'Von
Demps, Quintin Bush, Deon Hall, Deiondre'
Jackson, Eddie Amos, Adrian

Barth, Connor Scales, Patrick O'Donnell, Pat

Yeah, I agree with Robertson-Harris being taken over Unrein because:
-we've had a concerted youth movement and he's much younger than Unrein
-he's been very disruptive on both running and pass plays
-and he has that long lean body type that Fox really seems to like.

Yeah, those would be my talking points if I was making a pitch for RRH.

Eh, Fox is an Unrein guy only to the extent that there isn't a better talent on the roster than Unrein. Fox doesn't blindly stick to "his guys".

But considering Unrein is listed as a starter, I don't see him going anywhere.

Fox loves him some Unrein... but I just can't see how you keep him and risk losing an ascending RRH.

Plus... Jaye Howard looked like a fucking badass last week, and I saw him playing some time at the nose so I'm thinking they're going to be moving him around.

I like your list G08, however throwing in my two cents I think I'd make the following alterations:

1. Unrein over Jenkins.

I don't see why it's a choice between Unrein, who as wab has pointed out is listed as a starter, and Robertson-Harris. If Howard is playing well at NT then that suggests to me that Jenkins isn't as important to back up Goldman. The only thing he has over Unrein is he's a couple of years younger. Unrein has the advantage of having played the last two years under Fangio and really getting to know the system. A young guy like Robertson-Harris who's flashed some pass rush potential is too valuable a prospect not to keep around in my opinion.

2. Braunecker over Burton

Like you I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears keep a FB. In particular I thought they might feel having a lead blocker for Cohen could be beneficial given his lack of size. However, when I took a second look at Cohen's 11 runs against Arizona only two of them came with Burton on the field. Seven were with two TEs including one where Miller lined up in the backfield. Given this, and the lack of talent at WR, I'm going to opt for a fourth TE over a FB. Both Brown and Braunecker have reportedly improved from last year, but Biggs has pointed out that Braunecker plays a lot on special teams and has tipped him to make the roster so I'm going to go with him.

3. Gentry over McPhee (PUP) or Langford (IR)

OK this is seriously debatable, but it's McPhee and as good as he can be on the field he keeps missing substantial time because of his knees. If he's good to go then I'd be more than happy to stick Langford on IR, as there's always the option to activate him if one of the other RBs gets injured. Hell I'd be happy to drop kick him out the door at this point, but I doubt Pace would be willing to give up on him just yet.

Gentry has stood out in camp, has apparently built a nice rapport with Trubisky and has reportedly drawn interest from other teams. If it can be avoided, I don't want to risk losing a tall receiver who can high-point the ball and has shown some potential. Gentry's obviously raw and I wouldn't expect him to contribute much if anything this season, but the Bears are rebuilding and Meredith didn't do anything as a rookie before breaking out last year. The WR corps looks so weak at present, but I can't justify dropping Bellamy or Thompson because they're core special teamers who have actually performed well in preseason. If McPhee starts the season on the PUP list or Langford goes to IR then the team still has good depth at their positions and the coaches get extra time to evaluate Gentry and the other bottom of the roster receivers.

My d-line would be:

Goldman-Hicks-Howard
Bullard-RRH-Jenkins.

Don't see a spot for Unrein or Wilson...

Cowart would fit on the PS.

The way Trubisky has played, I would not be shocked if they cut Sanchez.

I think Langford makes it at RB with Carey on IR.

add Rounds and Stevenson to PS

No way they keep 7 WR, I see Gentry making it and Cruz out. One spot for Bellamy but probably not Thompson.

I see Braunecker making it, he gets a ton of reps on ST. They will go with 4 TE and have a lot of 2 TE sets.

OL I agree but Compton could take Sowell's spot.

DE I see Unrein and Wilson out and Howard(I think you forgot him) and RHH making it at DE.

I see Timu getting cut, he doesn't play ST.

I think Thompson has some worth as a receiver, I'd like to see him make the cut somehow. But I want Gentry on the team so it'd be over Cruz or Bellamy. Bellamy I want for special teams and the tiny possibility his hands improve. So over Cruz...

And that isn't happening.

Sad, but true:
Bears cannot put Meredith on IR until after the cutdown to 53 is complete, so he will have to count as one of the 6 or 7 WRs.

Greg Gabriel seems to think that Sanchez won't make the team. I actually love that at this point... Mitch as the #2 gets him in the game if it's a blowout (either way) or if Glennon goes down. It also opens up another roster spot.

Should be interesting to monitor.

They may wait to see how Trubisky looks in game 4, if he digests the game plan they give him and starts to look better under center, then they might only keep two QB's. His adjustment is fairly big from the spread to a pro style offense.

He was making a ton of full-field reads this pre-season.
