Updated 3 round mock draft. I'll do another one once the first wave of free agency passes.

Round 1
1. Tampa Bay *Jameis Winston QB Florida State
The Bucs are comfortable with is off-field issues.

2. Tennessee *Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
They can't pin their hopes on an injury prone 6th round pick.

3. Jacksonville Vic Beasley OLB Clemson
Monster combine pushed him to the top 5.

4. Oakland *Amari Cooper WR Alabama
They are expected to target Pork Chop in FA, so they can turn to WR in the draft.

5. Washington *Dante Fowler Jr. OLB Florida
Fowler is the type of relentless rusher they haven't had since...well...ever.

6. N.Y. Jets Kevin White WR West Virginia
Pairing White with Eric Decker should make whoever plays QB that much better.

7. Chicago *Leonard Williams DT Southern California
The offseason gods continue to look out for the Bears. Here they land the top defender in the draft, and a perfect 5 technique for their new 3-4 defense.

8. Atlanta *Randy Gregory DE Nebraska
Beasley would have been ideal, but Gregory fits what Gus Bradley does just as well.

9. N.Y. Giants La'el Collins OT LSU
New York will be tempted by Arik Armstead, but they really need to take the top OT here.

10. St. Louis DeVante Parker WR Louisville
STL rains on the Teddy Bridgewater/DeVante Parker reunion.

11. Minnesota *Arik Armstead DE Oregon
Armstead could grow into something special in Mike Zimmer's defense.

12. Cleveland Danny Shelton DT Washington
The Browns are expected to lose two of their top three defensive linemen, and Shelton is a beast.

13. New Orleans *Trae Waynes CB Michigan State
There are pass rushers available, but Waynes and his press coverage skills are a better value.

14. Miami *Malcom Brown DT Texas
Brown is a fast riser and should help strengthen the middle of the defense.

15. San Francisco Brandon Scherff OG Iowa
Mike Iupati could be too expensive to retain.

16. Houston *Landon Collins SS Alabama
Collins is a little overrated, which is why he's here at 16.

17. San Diego Alvin Dupree OLB Kentucky
Dupree is a better prospect than any of the potential OT's available.

18. Kansas City *Breshad Perriman WR UCF
WR has been a need for years. Time to stop ignoring it.

19. Cleveland f/Buffalo *Andrus Peat OT Stanford
Massive and nimble RT.

20. Philadelphia *Marcus Peters CB Washington
Came out of the combine with questions about his speed in addition to his character.

21. Cincinnati *Jordan Phillips DT Oklahoma
The interior of the DL was an issue last season. Phillips should help if his back checks out.

22. Pittsburgh *Shane Ray OLB Missouri
The Steelers take advantage of Ray's slide.

23. Detroit *Ereck Flowers OT Miami (Fla.)
Better to take the best OL on the board than to reach for a DT.

24. Arizona *Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin

25. Carolina T.J. Clemmings OT Pittsburgh
Byron Bell is not a left tackle.

26. Baltimore *Jalen Collins CB LSU
Collins looks more like a safety, but hes a gifted athlete with a lot of potential.

27. Dallas Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA
RB is a possibility, but the Cowboys had almost zero pass rush last season.

28. Jacksonville f/DEN *Todd Gurley RB Georgia
Jacksonville moves up to get Gurley before Indy can take him.

29. Indianapolis *Eddie Goldman DT Florida State
For a team that won so many games, they have a surprising amount of holes.

30. Green Bay Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
THe Packers have moved on from AJ Hawk and would like to put Matthews back outside.

31. Seattle *Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma
The super bowl proved that the Hawks need a WR in the worst way.

32. New England *Shaq Thompson OLB Washington
Is he a LB, a safety, or a RB? New England won't care.

33. Round 2
34. Tennessee Carl Davis DT Iowa
35. Tampa Bay Cameron Erving OT Florida State
36. Oakland *Benardrick McKinney ILB Mississippi State
37. Denver f/JAX *Maxx Williams TE Minnesota
38. N.Y. Jets *Brett Hundley QB UCLA
39. Washington Tre' Jackson OG Florida State

40. Chicago *Sammie Coates WR Auburn
There are questions about Brandon Marshall's return, and Alshon Jeffery is entering a contract year. Not only would Coates offset the potential loss of Marshal, but he offers an element of speed that the Bears offense has been lacking.

41. N.Y. Giants *Danielle Hunter DE LSU
42. St. Louis Reese Dismukes C Auburn
43. Atlanta Quinten Rollins CB Miami (Ohio)
44. Cleveland *Jaelen Strong WR Arizona State
45. New Orleans *Eli Harold OLB Virginia
46. Minnesota A.J. Cann OG South Carolina
47. San Francisco *P.J. Williams CB Florida State
48. Miami Paul Dawson OLB TCU
49. San Diego *D.J. Humphries OT Florida
50. Kansas City Cody Prewitt SS Ole Miss
51. Buffalo *Mario Edwards Jr. DE Florida State
52. Houston Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest
53. Philadelphia Bryce Petty QB Baylor
54. Cincinnati Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M
55. Detroit Michael Bennett DT Ohio State
56. Arizona Hauoli Kikaha OLB Washington
57. Pittsburgh Byron Jones CB Connecticut
58. Carolina Devin Smith WR Ohio State
59. Baltimore Ameer Abdullah RB Nebraska
60. Denver Jake Fisher OT Oregon
61. Dallas *Xavier Cooper DT Washington State
62. Indianapolis *Tevin Coleman RB Indiana
63. Green Bay Ty Sambrailo OT Colorado State
64. Seattle Clive Walford TE Miami (Fla.)
65. New England Laken Tomlinson OG Duke

66. Round 3
67. Tampa Bay Hroniss Grasu C Oregon
68. Tennessee Nate Orchard OLB Utah
69. Jacksonville Arie Kouandjio OG Alabama
70. Oakland Gabe Wright DT Auburn
71. Washington Daryl Williams OT Oklahoma
72. N.Y. Jets Lorenzo Mauldin OLB Louisville

73. Chicago Shane Carden QB East Carolina
Ryan Pace has made it known that he wants to draft a QB. Cutler will only be with the team for two more seasons max, and the Bears haven't been great at bringing in developmental prospects. Carden is a hard nosed leader with great decision making skills and the best pocket presence in the draft.

74. St. Louis *Donovan Smith OT Penn State
75. Atlanta *Duke Johnson RB Miami (Fla.)
76. N.Y. Giants Anthony Harris SS Virginia
77. New Orleans Ali Marpet OG Hobart
78. Minnesota *Devin Funchess WR Michigan
79. Cleveland Derron Smith FS Fresno State
80. Miami D'Joun Smith CB Florida Atlantic
81. San Francisco *Nelson Agholor WR Southern California
82. Kansas City Denzel Perryman ILB Miami (Fla.)
83. Buffalo *Jesse James TE Penn State
84. Houston Rob Havenstein OT Wisconsin
85. San Diego *Jay Ajayi RB Boise State
86. Philadelphia Rashad Greene WR Florida State
87. Cincinnati Damarious Randall FS Arizona State
88. Arizona Josh Shaw CB Southern California
89. Pittsburgh *Gerod Holliman FS Louisville
90. Detroit *Alex Carter CB Stanford
91. Carolina *Kwon Alexander OLB LSU
92. Baltimore Phillip Dorsett WR Miami (Fla.)
93. Dallas David Johnson RB Northern Iowa
94. Denver Ramik Wilson ILB Georgia
95. Indianapolis Jaquiski Tartt SS Samford
96. Green Bay Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB Oregon
97. Seattle Josue Matias OG Florida State
98. New England Jeremy Langford RB Michigan State

Rest of Bears Picks:
R4. Lorenzo Mauldin OLB Louisville
R5. NA
R6. Max Garcia C Florida
R7. Tyeler Davison NT Fresno State

Spending high draft picks to come in behind former pro-bowlers would sure send a message.

I watched Carden highlights and his mechanics seem off to me. I will say looks like he sees field well though. I like first two picks though.

His throwing motion is very off. Reminds me of "million dollar arm" were the kid pauses forever before he throws.

He clearly doesn't have a nfl arm with that delivery. However if you compact his release point and get his hips to drive the ball... Maybe he could. Then your looking at a decent prospect. He clearly is an all arm thrower. If you can teach the lower half it would help a ton.

That said no way a 3rd for a big project.

The rest of the draft Bravo. Not big on Coates. Mainly because I always have believed hands before skills. But the kid has the physical ability to be a good deep threat.

Cardenas was a reach. I knew it when I wrote it down. He's just got that "it" you look for in a QB. Mechanics can be taught. But I agree that the 3rd is probably too high.

Never know much past the first 40 players. That's what makes it interesting. You could have a qb coach who says "I can fix that" and instead of Steve Walsh arm you have a Dave Krieg arm.

Looking at this after the first barrage if FA. I would go...

1. Leonard Williams 5 tech
2. P.J. Williams CB
3. Josh Shaw FS (unless Parker is singed) or
*3. Donovan Smith OT
4. Anthony Chickillo 5 Tech
5. Titus Davis WR
6. Max Garcia C

If we get Leonard Williams, I'm going to need to change my pants.

It's not improbable. Nobody speculated the Bears getting Tommie Harris at 14, I believe it was, in 2004, but there he was.

A lot can happen before 7, especially if the Titans don't take Mariota. Unfortunately I doubt Williams gets past the Jaguars or Raiders. Bears are in prime position for either White, maybe Trae Waynes, or Vic Beasley.

I maintain that the Jags need a pass rusher more, and Oakland needs a WR badly because nobody wanted to go there in free agency. The redskins and jets are the wild cards.

My bet is the Raiders stay consistent with their "burner lust" DNA and go with White. Then I'm hoping the Jet goes defense. In that case, Cooper or Williams would fall to the Beloved. So what then?

Harris fell because there was serious worries about his knees.

Anyone can fall. Williams certainly can. He did not post impressive combine numbers.

The Redskins don't "need" Williams. They just put a decent amount of resources in their DL with Knighton, Paea, and Ricky Jean-Francois. The Jets don't need him either...they have probably the best 3-4 DE pair in the NFL in Richardson and Wilkerson.

The Titans really shouldn't pass on Mariota. They can't pin their hopes on and injury plagued 6th round QB and spend the #2 overall pick on a 5tech. And the Jags just signed Odrick to be their "heavy" end. So, if Williams gets past Oakland, there is a very real possibility that he is there at 7.

His pro-day was average at best too.

There is a LOT to like about Williams potential. But there are some pretty big holes in his game. He plays way too upright and is often the last guy off the snap. USC was able to cover up a lot of his flaws by moving him around, but if he doesn't work on some things he's going to get exposed in the NFL.

Cooper and Williams are the players with the highest floor in the draft and there's a good chance we'll have a chance to draft one. I can't even really wrap my mind around that idea.

Whether it's Cooper, Williams, Beasley, or White...we have a chance at an impact player.

yeah, the more i think about it, the more it feels like this has to be their pick. they are forever going to be an nfl afterthought until they lock down someone who can make them a serious contender at QB. improve their defense and what, they could possibly be picking a few slots higher next year, out of range of next year's 1st round prospect qb's?

That may be true, but you can't teach his size and athleticism.

In reality, I don't think he gets past the Raiders or the Redskins.
