I'd be good with trading him if we didn't have a group of fringe players and a one guy brimming with potential but with bones made of candy canes.

I just don't even care at this point. It's not like he's on some rookie deal. He signed this, his first big contract in the NFL, and he's got 2 fucking years left and wants more coin? Get the fuck outta here.

I was wondering where TBU was coming from, and now that I look at the TE pay charts on Spotrac I actually think he's underpaid. That's too fucking bad because he signed a contract, but I at least see what he's saying to Pace.

I'm choosing not to acknowledge that Greg Olsen is on that list.
Now that we got that out of the way....I'd say Bennett is #4 or 5 on that list in terms of talent.

You can also bitch to your boss about it, and skip voluntary projects at work.

Bears already botched McDonald. They have to demonstrate that they can handle psychos or they will be severely limited in the players they can acquire.G08 wrote:Dude fuck Martellus. I hope we trade his ass.

Sounds like Martellus needs a better agent.

I know fans are supposed to be against the player trying to get mo money.
But, I agree that he's under-paid, Phil took a gamble on a guy who had talent for days but not always focused on football, and he out-performed the money relative to what the position is paid throughout the league -- he probably should be busting ass for the new regime this year and pushing for more money next year, but they're playing it this way to cash in on the last 2 successful seasons

I am typically on the players side. From a player. the contract is only worth the guaranteed money.Magnum_Ursus wrote:I know fans are supposed to be against the player trying to get mo money.

Now, I hate the term "garbage time" . But Marty had some plays when the game counted that, either he was stone hands, or had a brain fart. He made his bank when the game was out of hand.
Julius Thomas is not a good tight end. He got put in the right position at the right time... But that's not going to happen here.
Martellus Bennett is fools gold. This is his last year as a Chicago Bear. You should cheer for him, but don't get too attached.

I think generally fans understand players wanting money
The issue for me is I don't want to hear about it. You signed your deal. No one forced you. The terms and rules were provided a head of time. It's on you. If your not worth/paid what you think you should be... To fucking bad.

If he has another 90 catch season this year, he's more than in his right to hold out next year. But not with 2 years left, that's bush league bullshit.

I hate the Cover 2 so much. I just don't think you win Championships with that defense. You need players with size, you need to press on the outside sometimes, you need to be multiple (in my opinion).
Someone want to do the digging and tell me how many rings that scheme has won in the past 20 years?
Bucs and Colts off the top of my head.

From a pure Cover 2 standpoint, those are the only two teams. But if you want to get technical, the Steelers ran more cover 2 than 3-4 when they won the super bowl in 2009. Same with the Giants in 2012.G08 wrote:I hate the Cover 2 so much. I just don't think you win Championships with that defense. I think to be fair to a scheme you need to compare not just comparable talent on that side of the ball but also on the other. The colts won with the cover two when they had peyton manning, the bucs mostly didn't. Just objectively looking at it, it works when...
1. The opposing team has a bad or at least mistake-prone offense
2. The opposing team is trying to chase your offense
So the first situation supports the idea that it doesn't win championships because it wouldn't easily carry you through the playoffs. However, if you have an explosive offense and a bad defense, I think you consider cover-2 when you're looking at your personnel. Patriots, Cowboys, Saints, Steelers... all of these teams are sorta rebuillding their defenses right now and maybe the cover-2 can hide their deficiencies in a position group?

long story short, the cover two can definitely win you a superbowl if you're playing against ron turner.
