The Bears have added a fullback by signing Eddie Williams, an athletic option who moves well and is an accomplished receiver.
Williams, a seventh-round draft pick from Idaho by the Washington Redskins last year, was released last week and the Bears scooped him up, adding him to the mix with veteran Jason McKie.
Williams suffered a broken left leg in practice in late November and had surgery. He had to pass a physical with the Redskins to be released last week, so that means he is ready to go. Williams had concerns when he came out last year after tearing the ACL in his right knee as a senior in school.
But Williams showed great promise in the Vandals program. During that senior year, he caught 54 passes for 687 yards and six touchdowns as a tight end. The 6-1, 249-pounder is viewed as an H-back type.
