Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale
No complaints here - love the traits and the versatility. Hopefully he develops enough to be a starter in a year or two, but I don't think he was drafted with taking over at LT in mind, as I think Poles likes Braxton there. Time will tell.

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
I think Spotrac maybe is including rookie pool without saying so or separating it out? I think we're looking at 7-10M space, minus emergency pool, so 5-7M to spend? Looking at the remaining options, they're pretty awful. So far, my list is: Smoot or Ngokoue for maybe 3-5M And I really didn't enjoy ...

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
The salary cap is pretty confusing right now. Spotrac just redesigned things and it's hard to follow. But, as best as I can read from OTC and Spotrac both, the Bears only have around 7.5M worth of space. Then you need a little room for emergencies. And neither seem to be including rookie pool, whic...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Love the pick. Still a little surprised that there wasn't a trade back for more assets, but I am not complaining one bit about the outcome. I'm really looking forward to watching Odunze and the Bears terrorize opposing defenses for years to come.

Re: The 2024 Draft
The Penix thing still blows my mind. It’s like the whole Glennon/Trubisky situation. Also, I’m absolutely thrilled with the Bears first round. Thrilled. A little different in that Cousins doesn't suck donkey balls, but definitely a weird move, imo. By the time Penix likely starts, they'll have used...

Allegedly, Daniel's really wants to play for the Raiders (and Antonio Pierce) or the Vikings. Whatever forces the Vikings into making a bad decision is fine with me. A sick part of me wants to see what would happen if the Bears actually traded out of #1 now. It's not going to happen, but man would that be nuts.

I generally like the stadium design, really dislike the artificial turf (I know it's not like they will be using astroturf, but still prefer grass), and am a little surprised the capacity isn't bigger.

Re: 2024 Draft - How Many Picks?
Wow - WR below TEs. I wonder how much of the miss rate is due to players being outright busts vs. teams not being willing to pay for good, but not great performance or other salary cap constraints. QB is also higher than I thought it would be. 2021 alone has probably colored my view of it (edit: oh ...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
If you have ever heard Ryan Leaf on NFLN/SiriusXM, he's pretty merciless about critiquing himself and why he failed as an NFL player. And the #1 thing he points to is his ego/big head that caused him to ignore the coaching because he thought he didn't need to listen to anybody. Nope, but I'm glad t...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
I've been running this logic through my head and I'm not liking the answer I keep coming up with. WR just isn't making logical sense to me. We traded a 4th for Allen. We are taking CW at #1. Allen is a UFA after this season, and we aren't really in a position to think Super Bowl this year. So, a lo...

I was watching at my dad's house, and when the 3rd quarter ended, I drove home. When I got home, my dad called to tell me they made a comeback, and that I should check it out. I remember watching the very end and soaking in that legendary post-game presser. I also remember listening to the "Foo...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
Stats don't lie. In 2023, despite USC's less than stellar OL, Williams had a 73% completion rate from the pocket. For those who say he can't play in a structure, he left the pocket on only 3% of his dropbacks. Yeah, I've heard that narrative before and the videos with evidence to the contrary - I'm...

Marc Sessler has done a list of QB draft ranks since 2000: https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-draft-ranking-all-24-quarterback-classes-since-2000 I couldn't resist doing a quick analysis on this: I assigned 5 pts for every QB drafted 1-10, 3 pts for 11-20, 1 pt for 21-40 Totaled them up for each year Gra...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized
D absolutely helps QBs IMO. If they don’t have to press they will make less mistakes. And, as I always like to point out, it gives them shorter fields. It also keeps the QB from having to throw so much, and, by extension, being in position to get hit. If the defense gives up a lot of points, the of...

Yeah, I think Allen is a one-year rental. Trade a 4th, get a solid year out of him and let him walk for a higher comp pick. I concur that Allen is a one-off. He won't be worth more than a 5th round comp pick, though, because he's a ten-year veteran and that's where those max out. Players who have t...

Like I posted to Heinz it was in something Biggs wrote. Check out his columns in the Trib. I don't have a subscription right now. Let's look at it from a common sense point of view. Allen refused to take a pay cut in SD. Allen gets traded. We have him for one year at $23 mil but given his age is th...
