Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025

I know it's not realistic and nobody else here seems to want him, but Jon Gruden fits both criteria IMO. Gruden's first 5 years were as good as any, but in 14 full seasons of coaching Gruden had 6 winning seasons and 4 seasons with 10 or more wins. His last 8 (full) seasons as a coach he has 0 play...

Re: Week 15 // Bears (4-9) @ Vikings (11-2)

it feels very weird and dark to have people complaining that the Bears are being too careful with concussions. I don't think anyone's complaining that the Bears are being too careful (at least, that's not how I am reading it), and I do think it's odd to see these linger so long in so many players. ...

Check “The war room” I get it - I'm not the owner of the board, but for the life of me I can't understand why the Mods feel the need to carve up the discussions between multiple boards like that so aggressively. It's not like this board gets massive traffic / post volume, so why make it harder for ...

Might depend on the next HC. I doubt you'll see any extensions before the next HC is in place.

So the Bears are down to Moore/Rome/Allen and then Scott and ... Collin Johnson (who moves more like a TE than a WR). Hopefully this means Scott gets on the field. I wonder if they elevate Caleb's buddy from the PS. Tyler Scott's going to be one of those guys who goes to the Panthers next year and ...

Yeah, I get it if the guy you're "saddling" a GM/coach with needs a lot of development or has certain traits that make him appealing to some guys but not others, but I am pretty sure every GM would have taken Caleb as the #1 overall QB last year. Maybe not every last one, but the overwhelm...

I'm getting ready to sell all my music gear. I used to play a lot in high school and then again in college when I was in a band, but now it's all collecting dust. I have a 1973 Fender Telecaster and a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Standard that could produce around $10K together (after I have the Telecaster...

Lovie has done fuck-all since being ousted: in college, the NFL - you name it. Keeping him was going to just give you more mediocrity. The problem after letting Lovie go was with the hires that succeeded him, not the firing itself, imo.

Well that’s if Warren is retained. He’s achieved jack all , just continued dysfunction, since he arrived. Oh for christ's sake. Kevin Warren has been here for two years and largely has a role outside of the public view. His 'public' job was/is the stadium and their focus is to try and threaten/blac...

If we go for Ben Johnson, we really need to get a seasoned ass kicker type to run the defense. Steve Spagnula is the unsung hero of KC IMO, Ben Johnson will need his Spagnula. I don't know how we get him, but I'd cream my pants to get Jim Schwarz. Or, I could let the personal disgust go and be happ...

Wasn't able to watch the game at all, but being promoted to OC and then HC within a few weeks is a lot to ask of anyone - especially now that he's being asked to oversee a staff he didn't hire. Really bad result, but it was a virtually impossible ask for TB in the first place, imo. Basic competency...

The Bears could be 8-4 right now and still be 4th in the North. That is definitely not true of the pre-Poles years. if we were 8-4 I imagine a lot of conversations would be different, but we’re a long way off 8-4 My point was that last place this year is very different than it has been tradit...

Man, context and nuance isn't really a thing around here lately. Where was the context and nuance when Ryan Poles confidently stated “we’re going to take back the North and we’re not giving it back”? In sports you live and die by how you perform against expectations. He shouldn’t proclaim such thin...

If this is true (I have a world of issues with the trustworthiness of the individual conveying this), I'll eat crow. Brad Biggs reported the opposite, so I really don't know what's what. I'm sure he'll be asked about it at some point, so we might get some more details in the next week or so.

Right. Trey Smith is like 26 years old and the Chiefs aren’t going to be able to keep everyone. It would be great to get Trey Smith in, as he would not only give the RG spot stability but he could also help Wright refine his game. Wright has not really had anybody to help give him NFL-experienced a...

Just #4 would have gotten us to 8-4 right now. Your plan gets you wins, but do you really think Fields is good enough to beat the defenses in this division alone, let alone win you playoff games? There's a reason Russ won the starting job in Pittsburgh. I don't know and that's the rub here. I reall...
