Re: Nagy optimism

You don’t control the year in which you have the #3 overall pick. When you have it, and you need a QB (which the Bears CLEARLY did), you take a QB. Sure, but if you know you are taking a QB and launching Fox/Loggains after the 2017 season, you're better off canning them a year earlier. Know who our...

Re: Nagy optimism

I've been really clear that I blame Pace most. You don't draft Mitch, then turn around and hire a HC that's so mismatched with Mitch's skill set. That is the heart of the issue, one of them had to go. Mitch is now gone, so I'm staying optimistic on Nagy until that's no longer viable lol. It's fooli...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Back on JF1... don't know if any of you all follow him on social media but I'm enjoying it. He's clearly immersing himself in Chicago and stepping right into the shoes of a role model. Kid is dripping with leadership and poise - just really natural and totally fit for the stage. I don't know if the...

Re: Bears officially submit bid for Arlington

Lightfoot can say or do anything she wants, but she's on the losing end. Political discussions are not allowed here so I will stop there. The reality is that the Bears are limited at Soldier Field. As things stand today, there can never be a Super Bowl there. The transportation to Soldier Field is s...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Winston is a terrific QB if he can make some better decisions. He really can do it all. His personality or maturity for the purposes of this discussion is irrelevant. Daniel is a competent QB with physical limitations (now age) on what he can really do as more than a spot starter. Mitch is a terrif...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

Mitch said in his first presser with Buffalo that he wanted a place where he’d have a chance to compete for a job, but no one wanted him and it was surprising to him that it went down that way. He took less than Chase Daniel money to play a pure backup role - there’s no sugar coating it. The league...

Love it. Perhaps the movie quote I use the most with my wife. She rolls her eyes at me a lot!!!
Thanks. Still one of the best movies of all time BTW.

The movie we quote in my home constantly is Armageddon.

Re: Nagy optimism

Mitch blows, his Bears story is now written and behind us. And I just don't care about ex-Bears. I care about Nagy because he's still our coach. Any fan that wants to defend Mitch and tear down Nagy should move to Wisconsin. That's one of the best things I've read here. https://media.giphy.com/medi...

This video was meatball time for me. It's pretty much the kind of interview you'd expect except that Jenkins talks about going home to his girl during break (i.e. He wants to get laid.) and then how he can't wait to put the pads on and hit people. Please Lord let there be videos of Jenkins and Mack ...

Re: Bears officially submit bid for Arlington

Is it possible for this offseason to get any better? I was in an enraged manic state after they signed Andy Dalton. Since then, the Packers have entered a death spiral, we drafted Fields and Jenkins, and now this. It's going to take forever for this to come to fruition, if it even is possible, but i...

Re: Nagy optimism

The "you need to tailor your offense to the abilities of the QB" assumes that a viable modern NFL offense can be built around that QB. But if the QB has flaws that disallow required capabilities in today's NFL, you haven't met that baseline. And at that point it becomes incredible to poin...

Yeah, but Mitch supporters.... He was on his way to becoming Drew Brees if only we had stuck with him until 2027. You should email/tweet Adam Jahns and see if you can get on his podcast to discuss, he made the same comparison. Who cares about Adam Jahns? Who died and made him the Arbiter Of Truth? ...

Re: Excited Delirium Over Fields

I've already detailed how having an elite defense doesn't play a significant role in points scored on offense. 1) I just gave a clear, familiar example of how an elite defense DID play a significant role in points scored on offense. 2) No, you didn't. You gave examples showing that having an elite ...

Re: Nagy optimism

Talking to a Mitch supporter has to be what it's like to debate against a Flat Earther. Do you want your franchise QB to have the following issues: Inability to hit the deep ball. Difficulty with medium range passes. Cannot intellectually absorb the playbook as-is. Does not read NFL defenses past th...

Re: An Interesting Read

Wilbur Marshall absolutely deserves to be on that list. Certainly more than Lance Briggs. Nobody would have ever given up two first round draft picks for Briggs. Yep. Briggs was the beta wolf on Urlacher's kill. Wilbur Marshall was more than capable of getting his own. It is my understanding that F...

Re: Nagy optimism

I say that based on Nagy's treatment of Jordan Howard. We had a consistent 1,000 yard rusher on a rookie deal in the prime of his career. Who in their right mind gets rid of a guy like that? He didn't like Howard in the passing game apparently. OK so what? Seriously. So what? Howard moved the chain...

It is kind of a tale of two players. He HAS been the important guy you mentioned - but he's only successfully filled that important role for a tiny part of the past 2 years. Is that in dispute? I've been willing to let him go this and last offseasons - for what I considered to be good reasons: - sh...

I agree with the hot hand thing Yogi. I was mainly countering this bit by TMP: But a running game doesn’t fit his idea of what an offense is. I don't think this is true at all. If the franchise QB is having an argument with anyone, unless if that's with a Super Bowl winning HC, the franchise QB is going to win the argument right or wrong. Richard Sherman can be replaced for a reasonable cost. Good luck replacing Russell Wilson.

Re: Nagy optimism

Yogi da Bear I completely agree. That’s a huge flaw in Nagy’s thought process. The strength of the team the past three years has been the defense. A running game gives the defense a breather. But a running game doesn’t fit his idea of what an offense is. And to another point of yours, when you’ve g...

OK so I put my foot in my mouth just a tad in another thread and learned that Goldman has asthma. Between that and his weight Covid could kill him. Re: Nagy optimism

IIRC the Bears were 9th in scoring that year but 21st in yards. Logic would clearly dictate that the reason for this is because the offense generally didn't have that far to go, but that the they did their job and complimented the defensive and/or special teams effort with scores. I mean, the offen...
