Re: Justin Fields traded to Pittsburgh for conditional pick

Couldn't we have gotten a much better comp pick in 2025 if we just released him and let him go wherever he wanted? Wouldn't that outcome have been better for us and for him??? He was a full time starting QB in 2023 after all.

Re: What Bagent is up to

If the plan is to sit Caleb a) Strongly believe you need 2 vets ahead, so that one injury doesn't ruin your plans b) I'm not at all comfortable with locking myself into 17 games of Bagent, no matter what I'm grabbing somebody like Bridgewater, if that's the plan So you don't like Brett Rypien? lol ...

Re: Who will wear #13 for the Bears in 2024?

I'm voting for Keenan Allen, because he's the most experienced and highly paid player who would want that number. He can outbid CW. Tyler Scott will be happy to make some extra dough by taking another number. Hell, he should probably want to take another number to make everyone forget his 2023. It'l...

A 236# 4-3 edge? I know there's some guys close to that size who are really good. But that's REALLY light.

Re: What Bagent is up to

Love that kid. Imagine the following... Team wants to let Caleb Williams (or whichever drafted QB) sit and absorb the offense the first year and just hang onto Fields to wait for an injury to wake up the trade market. Week 2 it happens and a team throws us a high draft pick in 25 for Fields, who dep...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff. What about this high level plan? - Bears and White Sox build their own stadiums and can lease out areas within the stadiums for various vendors, shops, etc. Teams own their own stadium, but pay property tax to the city. - Bears additionally pay to dem...

That we signed a significant contributor who starts the season at 31 means what Poles is looking for and how he views the team has progressed beyond just rebuilding.

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

Perhaps this is off topic, but I've been watching tape on CW13. I think the people who think today that he should start on day 1 should take a close look at the offense he ran at USC. There's a whole lot of same concept on both sides of the field, pre-snap look the defense over to pick a side of the...

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

I think Fields is a stand-up guy when he's the starter. This is not some attempt to assassinate the dude's character, but it's widely reported that Fields did NOT want to work with established vets like Dalton and Foles because he believed he was the unquestioned starter. This is the first I've hea...

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

Here's how this works out if we keep Justin and draft Caleb: -Justin is the presumed starter from the get go because if we're keeping him, the plan is to bring Caleb along slowly. -Then Justin gets his yearly injury, Caleb is thrust into the starting position when Justin got all the first team snap...

Not a fan of this move at $12M or whatever it would be for a RB who has an injury history and is heading toward declineville. I'll take the opportunity cost of that $12M to spend elsewhere.

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

Have to agree with the Wabster here. This is not a case where you can split the baby. By drafting Williams you are saying, "We think this guy is worth more than all the players we could get by trading the pick." IMO, that means you're pushing all your chips to the middle of the table on h...

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

Can you really bring up GB and how they have went about their QB situation? Favruh was pretty much a HOFer when Rodgers was drafted. Plenty of teams passed on Rodgers. QB needy teams felt he wasn't the one. He fell into GB's lap. Love was drafted at the time Rodgers was perceived to be an HOFer as ...

Re: JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

I think I'm with Yogi. If we can't get good value for Fields on the trade market it's a blessing in disguise. Draft CW13 (or another QB) and let him sit and marinate for a year under Fields as an investment for future success. (See Mahomes.) That has more value to me than throwing CW13 (or whoever) ...

Re: Bears trade 5th rd pick to Bills for OL Ryan Bates

If he's right and he's a + starter at Center for 2 years, it's a good deal. No doubt about it. How it plays out in real games trumps anything we say in March. Same with draft pick praise and criticism for that matter. Remember how we thought Getsy bringing his guy Patrick was a good move at the tim...

Re: Bears trade 5th rd pick to Bills for OL Ryan Bates

I simply see this as Poles knowing the positions he’s targeting with his early picks and knowing that he couldn’t get as quality of an IOL as Bates in the 5th based on his own draft projections. If that's the logic, then Poles should trade every day 3 draft pick for more sure thing players then, ri...

JF1 + Caleb options are exceptional opportunity?

I've heard this stated a number of times. Maybe it's my Bears losing fatigue talking, but I see it rather differently. For starters, both sides of the QB debate make really compelling points, at least IMO. So whichever way they choose to go, there's no way to say "it was really the only reasona...

Re: Bears trade 5th rd pick to Bills for OL Ryan Bates

This tells me that 1. The Bears have already gotten a trade in place for Fields that will recoup that pick and probably a bit more 2. The number 9 pick is for sale, big time This is the head scratchiest move I've seen yet from Poles. Free agency is coming up in a few days where he could sign an exp...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository

It would be absolutely amazing if they could think outside the box and save $$$ by building one truly convertable stadium for the two teams instead of a baseball stadium with NFL lines painted on it with poor viewing as has been done previously. Probably not possible, but something to consider. At l...

Warren was brought in as a half football half business middleman layer between GM and ownership, and it was a move that is super important to the franchise. He is Ryan Poles boss, not George. His input does, and should matter to Poles as any bosses input would. It’s just input though and if Warren ...

Re: Kingsbury backs out of Raiders job, joins Commanders

I struggle to imagine our getting Washington's 2025 R1 pick to move up 1 spot, although I get the arguments about why they'd pursue Williams aggressively. I think that's the absolute best we could hope for. More likely IMO it might be their 2 R2's and their R2 next year.

What has you not on board with Williams? Part of it is the Stroud Effect. I think it's unfair to assume that Williams will be able to recreate what Stroud was able to do. Part of it is the Bears history with highly drafted QBs. It's not great. Part of it is that Fields' intangibles are unquestionab...

Just heard on the radio that Kliff Kingsbury's noteworthy withdrawal of interest in the Raiders job now that he's interviewed for Washington's OC job is fueling speculation that the Commanders are very, very interested in trading up from 2 to 1 to get Caleb Williams.

Is it possible that Getsy ran so much shotgun because Fields didn't like turning his back to the defense in play action or was slow to re-orient himself when doing so? Just wondering.
