Re: Nobody cares about Corners, but...

I'm in for spending big on one of your corners, as long as you feel good that they are elite. I'm confident in Gonzalez, but no one else. Supposedly, one of the benefits to T2/C3 is that it isn't quite as demanding on your corners and you can get by a little cheaper there. I don't think they like J...

Interesting metric. However, it corresponds fairly well to inverse of how they finished last year, which isn't terribly informative. Bad teams get more draft capital. Winning teams have to let more quality free agents go, due to having more quality and tighter caps. I'm not sure draft capital is ev...

Bears only have their 2 & 5 safeties back signed and healthy from last year.

They could absolutely use some depth and insurance.
But has his price fallen that far?
I get the feeling that they aren't looking to permanently replace Eddie until they're sure he's broken.

For load sharing: Last year's RBs tallied Montgomery - 201 Herbert - 129 Ebner - 24 Evans - 14 368 carries The top 3 backs now on the roster had Herbert - 129 Foreman - 203 Homer -19 351 carries And I'm pretty sure they envisioned a bigger role for Homer when they gave him 2.25M Herbert was the best...

Maybe R7, if you're totally out of options and really like someone for the PS.

Re: Bengals OT Jonah Williams requests trade

But a useful question is not "are there some nonzero amount of exceptions to the rule?". Of course there are. Just like speed obviously matters a lot at CB, but I'm sure there's at least 1 decent slow CB out there. What you want to know is "Do longer armed prospects succeed more ofte...

I have no idea what Siemian did or didn't do that convinces you he isn't the guy you deliberately signed a year ago or what's so great about PJ Walker.

But this isn't within spyglass distance of the top 20 issues facing the team, so I give it two shrugs up.

Re: Whitehair starting C for 2023 Bears?

I'm in full cynic mode at this point: If he pretends that the players all fit and/or can shuffle around on his team he doesn't tip his hand in the draft or lose leverage in negotiations for contracts and trades. There's nothing wrong with that. It makes perfect sense for him to be silent or peddle ...

Interesting. Rather than using 1+ PBs as the filter, I'd be interested in seeing the round distribution of OTs drafted maybe 2010-2016 with say 72 or more starts (at T) Meaning we're looking at "good enough to be a constant starter there" rather than "good enough to make a Pro Bowl&qu...

I thought someone said somewhere that a new rule was under consideration(?) Sure, it's rare that you get down to your 3rd QB. Greg Gabriel seems convinced they're going with 3 QBs, but I tend to think he's stuck in 1998. Maybe NFL will come out with a emergency QB rule that basically requires 3 real QBs though. 2. The NFL will almost certainly make an emergency quarterback roster exception at some point, but honestly it's...

My fear - something that a caller shared on WSCR this morning - is that Poles may think he's smarter than other GMS when it comes to identifying diamond-in-the-rough offensive lineman. This caller - and he may be right - is convinced the Bears WON'T draft an OT in round 1 - that it's likely a pass ...
