Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
I think Spotrac maybe is including rookie pool without saying so or separating it out? I think we're looking at 7-10M space, minus emergency pool, so 5-7M to spend? Looking at the remaining options, they're pretty awful. So far, my list is: Smoot or Ngokoue for maybe 3-5M And I really didn't enjoy N...

Re: The 2024 Draft
That's sure not the comparison I'd make I mean, yes, you're bringing a FA and high draft pick in together. But Cousins is a highly paid, proven stud*. Glennon was young and a 3rd round pick who'd had 1.5 very slightly promising first years in the league. It was clear as soon as the draft happened t...

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
The salary cap is pretty confusing right now. Spotrac just redesigned things and it's hard to follow. But, as best as I can read from OTC and Spotrac both, the Bears only have around 7.5M worth of space. Then you need a little room for emergencies. And neither seem to be including rookie pool, whic...

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
In his last 3 seasons, Jacob Martin has had 7, 5, and 4 tackles respectively. He's a complete nobody. And DomRob is, and I say this without hyperbole, one of the worst football players I've ever seen get decent P/T here in Chicago. I'm probably over simplifying this, but it just feels to me like DE...

I didn't get to watch last night but sounds like it was interesting at least. Happy with the picks so far, but dang I wanted Bowers. Oh well. The Penix thing still blows my mind. It’s like the whole Glennon/Trubisky situation. That's sure not the comparison I'd make I mean, yes, you're bringing a FA and high draft pick in together. Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?
Agree on the offensive orgy and the sorry state of the DL. As unexciting as he is, Martin got 700k guaranteed and is probably here to make the team. 1) Sweat 2*) Walker 3) ??? 4) Martin 5) DomRob They have 1 spot desperately needing addressing and could use 2, if the opportunity is there. The Remain...

I woke up this morning and swam with dolphins then laid on 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman. I am now pretty drunk and on my way to Cozumel to go on a sub ride tomorrow. Top that off with the Bears getting the best QB prospect in a decade and this could go down as one of the best days of my life. OK, b...

The Fashanu stuff is picking up steam. I'm guessing some to a lot of it comes from this: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2024-nfl-draft-bears-likely-no-1-pick-caleb-williams-reveals-who-he-wants-chicago-to-take-at-no-9-overall/ Williams said he would select a former teammate. Re: The 2024 Draft
I'm not crazy about the Bear selection.
But aside from that, I think it's extremely plausible. Arguably, you could flip Nabors and Odunze, but that's also fairly trivial, especially from a Bears at 9 standpoint.

I think that's skewed, though, in that many mockers do few/no trades, because they just don't want to deal with the complexity and messiness.Atkins&Rebel wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 6:43 pm

3. $2 billion from the Bears. $300 million from the NFL. $900 million from bonds. The city has had to cover bond payments 2 out of the past 3 years because hotel tax revenues were less than projected. Some local Dallas guys are speculating that the Niners are trying to package Brandon Aiyuk plus their 1st and 2nd round picks to move up to 9 so they can take one of the top tackles. So 'only' 900M in privately funded bonds, instead of 2.3B? Why, that's such a bargain, you can't pass it up!
I don't suppose there was a whisper about the 589M still owed on Soldier Field?
Or the 50M still owed on Guaranteed Rate Field?

Smoke screen. Not sure which way you mean. Smoke screening that you want to trade down when you don't doesn't make much sense, in most scenarios. You could theoretically convince a team shortly after you "yeah, you don't need to trade up to get player X ahead of us, because we're trading down&...

I'll stick with Marshawn Kneeland and raise y'all Tip Reiman. From what I've seen, Johnson's got Adam Shaheen athleticism: impressive numbers for someone that size, but his play doesn't really bear them out. He's a good blocker, which is absolutely what we should be looking for in a TE. But Reiman'...

And now, my final simulation before the draft. If you've paid any attention to my previous drafts, it's all familiar names.
