Eberflus List of Accomplishments

Does manage to avoid being completely blank

When he was first hired as the head coach in 2022, Eberflus demanded an upgrade for the turf at Soldier Field.

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

Two plays alone, the Hail Mary and a blocked FG, are half the difference between 4-8 and 8-4. Then there's the last two games which were also there to be won and a terrible performance against the lowly Patriots. Those defeats are why they've fired the head coach. Poles was by all accounts furious ...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

I said no, Bears cannot keep blowing it all up every 3-5 years and expect to get this team out of the cellar. Getting a new GM doesn't mean blowing everything up. This is isn't a 2021 Bears roster. You bring in someone to go from point B to point C - which is the same thing we're doing with the hea...

Re: Thomas Brown: Interim Head Coach

I still don't think Cutler was the problem. The main problem was his complete lack of talent at WR other than the years he had Marshall and Alshon. When Johnny Knox and Hester are your teams best WRs, your not doing much. Cutler had ton of talent. He still had the gunslinger mentality that was goin...

Manhattan Island? Because there were at least a couple of million Bears fans on that island with you. Hmmm, maybe I’m misremembering but I feel like I was pretty ardently shouted down on this board. Maybe not. I was very surprised to go back and find that 16/31 votes wanted Eberflus fired. https://...

Re: Jaylon Johnson sounds bummed

He's definitely having a bad 2nd half.
Frustration with Flus, better competition, whatever.

I've also pointed out that last year's rating was very influenced by 4 atypical/gift INTs from terrible QBs.
I've never considered him "a 51 rating corner".

Yeah, he's also going to be 35 I think. I didn't realize he was going to be coming off of ankle surgery in addition. I was kind of thinking he could be a Rueben Brown signing to bring a solid vet presence to a young-ish OL. Say...Rueben Brown would be a perfect successor to Lucas Patrick and Ryan B...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

Anyway, back to the original question - I'm very, very on the fence about Poles right now. It is a relatively talented team in rebuild year 3. But the list of things he's done seriously wrong is pretty long for 3 yrs in, too. I'd hate to have him hire a HC, then decide he can't stay 1 year later. Bu...

Re: McNeil: Warren quashed Harbaugh job

Not sure if this is or isn't true. McNeil, who's been exiled from Chicago Sports Radio for erratic behavior (among other things), has, for good reasons, had a hard-on for the McCaskeys, Ted Phillips et al going back to the late 1980's. He reported on how Ted Phillips bungled the potential hire of T...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

My biggest concern is that Poles is being undermined by Warren and won't be allowed to make decisions for himself. I find that a startling biggest concern, given that, if Warren had been more forceful and overridden Poles about Eberflus, this team would probably be 8-4 and on the way to the playoff...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

My biggest concern is that Poles is being undermined by George McCaskey and won't be allowed to make decisions for himself. Fixed it for you, that is the real problem since he was the one who would not let them fire Flus after the Patriots game. You can say that McCaskey not letting Poles fire Flus...

Re: Build the Lines

Sure, it’s all relative, there are roster fillers. It’s common for “draft experts” to talk up the draft. It’s rarer for draft experts to say “this is the weakest position” and it turn out not to be. If it helps ease your mind, I believe the context of those comments are almost entirely based on the...

This is from PFF a month ago: https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2025-nfl-draft-strongest-weakest-position-groups They are down on IOL, and I agree. But some of that is due to C being a wasteland. And they like T ok and converting Ts to G is frequently a good strategy. I also agree that if you're being ...

Funny sample I reckon. How many of those were genuine contenders rather than seat warmers. And as for wins, how many of those situations were burned out rosters contributing to the previous coach getting fired. I said at the start of the season we might have the best roster that a #1 overall pick h...

Re: What is with all this flag planting crap?

Flag planting is sort of a representation of where we are as culture. It's all just boring to me. One team plants flag: "Why they gotta do all that shit! It's unsportsmanlike! Just shut up and play!" Leading to the response: "If they don't want the flag planted, then they should have...

Re: Thomas Brown: Interim Head Coach

There’s a timeline in the universe where I believe Emery/Trestman could have succeeded if they hadn’t been saddled with an aging roster that hated them just because they weren’t Lovie Smith. Actually, I should say "I agree, minus Emery". I think a better scenario, but being stuck with him...

That's true, but in the 3 where he was a DE he made 3 Pro Bowls, 2 AllPro, had double digit sacks 3 times, and had PFF ratings of 90+ 3 times. So clearly he was able to do both at an elite level.

6'2 250 DEs were kind of an Eberflus thing. Carter also feels more like a 3-4 guy. Next HC, DC certainly plays a role and, sure, 6'2 250 is easier to project to OLB, but I wouldn't in any way write it off before knowing the system. Khalil Mack was 6025 251 4.6 Carter is estimated at 6021 252 4.5 Ev...
