Re: Week 15 // Bears (4-9) @ Vikings (11-2)

No point cutting him, just don't count on him. He's a quality piece when healthy and a low cost player. No need to create more work for ourselves here. I get it's frustrating and all. As I do not think I have ever seen him play, I can't see cutting him. $5MM for a backup is about right. Let him sta...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository

The Chicago Bears' lease at Soldier Field expires in 2033: Lease terms The Bears pay $6.48 million annually to use Soldier Field. They can break the lease early by paying a penalty that decreases each year until the lease expires. They do have some cushion. But, man, they seem to love wasting time

Snap counts on OL

882 snaps

Coleman Shelton 871/882 = 98.8%
Darnell Wright 771/882 = 87.4%
Matt Pryor 752/882 = 85.3%* 752/756 = 99.5%* (Pryor was on the bench healthy the first 2 games)
Braxton Jones 696/882 = 78.9%
Teven Jenkins 659/882 = 74.7%

Re: DeAndre Carter to IR

I always get mad when young draft picks don't get on the field, especially when inactive on game day and the given reason is "they don't give us as much on special teams like GuyX does", especially on teams that aren't contenders anyway (almost every season for us). You knew what he does ...

Re: DeAndre Carter to IR

Carter getting reps ahead of Scott speaks volumes IMO. He’s likely not good. I wasn't high on the Scott pick when it happened, so full disclosure and this could be my confirmation bias. But this is two consecutive coordinators who have shown zero interest in giving him any shot to play, even on spe...

If the Bears take a RB in the top 10 while needing, at a minimum three new starters on OL and one of the deeper DL top-end DL classes in a while...I'll switch fandoms. We would all miss you terribly but that doesn't seem likely to me. That wab follows through or that the Bears do something dumb?

Re: Bears Coaching Search - 2025

One of Ben Johnson’s biggest hurdles is going to be getting guys he wants on staff to hold off on taking other jobs while they wait until Johnson can be hired after Feb 12. Or would Chicago do like Indy and start hiring coaches before the Head Coach is officially hired - hoping that he doesn’t pull...

Re: Week 14 // Bears (4-8) @ 49ers (5-7)

I'm a looong way from studying stats but with that caveat, if you take 2024 opposition scores as the population then the mean allowed is 21.2 and standard deviation 6.96. The 49ers game at 38 is therefore 2.42 standard deviations from that mean. The previous worst (excluding overtime) was the Cardi...

Re: Curious About Reactions To This.....

I'm skeptical about that story. I have a hard time believing it wasn't known that that position would be created and work that way, as Teddy prepared to retire. The only way it could be true is if the Bears planned for it to be another finance only guy like Teddy, then changed their mind later. If s...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

It makes zero sense to fire Poles now after what Warren said in the press conference. Poles is leading the new HC search so he’s staying. However, it also makes zero sense to be looking for a stud HC if your GM (leading the search) only has 1 year left on his contract. However, it also makes zero s...

Re: You are Kevin Warren: Do you Fire Ryan Poles?

Adam Jahns reporting that Poles was signed to a 4 year contract (despite Eberflus getting a 5 year). No extension announced so the expectation is he has one year left on his deal. If he is being kept you'd have to expect an extension to match whatever the Head Coach gets. As it is it makes it easy/...

Trestman was always going to (ultimately) fail. He had no business taking the top spot. Highly debatable. He was extremely successful as a HC in the CFL (3 championships in 7 seasons and a 4th as runnerup). Trestman was always going to (ultimately) fail. He had no business taking the top spot. Emer...

Lovie has done fuck-all since being ousted: in college, the NFL - you name it. Keeping him was going to just give you more mediocrity. The problem after letting Lovie go was with the hires that succeeded him, not the firing itself, imo. The Lovie firing was probably for the best AT THE TIME. The Be...

That was definitely peculiar and tone-deaf. And all the more troubling because the McCaskeys have a long, long history of putting "Devout Christian" at the top of their HC/GM/VP qualification list and "good at football stuff" somewhere further down the line. FWIW, Marc Trestman ...

I've got very little in the tank right now to give to thinking critically about the bears, but how many good teams out there actually have this mythical GM/HC combo that both came into their positions at the same time? It's not that they automatically have to arrive at the same time, but you can't ...

Yikes. Losing narrowly to great teams on bad calls and bad coaching = great outcome Getting the shit kicked out of you by a mediocre/hurt team = bad news Thomas Brown's HC prospects (around the league, for years) may get tanked by this, but I have to suspect that DC:Eberflus & OC:Brown vs DC:Was...
