Re: So if you were the Bears next GM..

Releasing Nick Foles, and designating Trevathan and Cohen 6/1 releases. In the opening period of FA, outside the chance of a real splash FA signing, I'm looking for an upgrade at C, solid ILB, and several WR options that are currently available. Should several of these options dry up because teams r...

Re: Thru Hiking the AT

For prep, I just hiked 10 miles in 10 degree weather. Still on flat ground, but feel good. Recovery is based on calorie intake. I'll do a few more 2-3 mile hikes before I throw on the pack and start training for real. For water, I'm going with a sawyer Squeeze. You fill up a water bottle with unfilt...

Omar is the Steelers version of Cliff Stein. He's a numbers guy. I have no emotional attachment to him as a GM prospect.

Re: General Manager/Head Coach Interview Discussion

Out of the GM's, I like these 3 in order: 1. Joe Shoen: Has a build through the draft mantra and makes Brandon Beane look good. I like what Buffalo has done to build their team. 2. Ran Carthon: 10 years in pro personnel, working for 2 great teams, Rams and 49ers. Was part of the group that fleeced P...

Re: Great article in the Athletic

It absolutely does not absolve Mel Tucker. Lovie’s cover 2 was one of the most basic defenses called in the NFL. Any coach worth his salt could see the Bears weren’t good enough to just line up and win with who they had left at that point. Tucker should have put in several more cover 3 and man schem...

Re: Bears to interview Colts DC Matt Eberflus

I like the idea of Eberflus’s style a lot, but he needs the players to buy in or risk the team quitting

Think rod marinelli type of coach. Great coordinator, but iffy as a head coach.

Never know until he gets his shot…

2-39) Andrew Booth Jr, CB, Clemson (Booth has rumblings of going in the first round, right now, I'm ecstatic that he's here in the 2nd) 3-73) Charlie Kolar, TE, Iowa State (Graham should be gone, and Kmet has some flaws. Kolar might go higher, but I like him here a lot) 5-146) Drake London, WR, USC ...

Re: Coach & GM Hiring

Some coaching candidates would want a say in who the GM is. I think the Bears are trying to lure Harbaugh and McDaniels to at least interview and say here's some leg work on GM's...and vice versa, they can still hire a GM and say here's some leg work on some of the coaches that were available to int...

Re: HC Candidate: Brian Flores, ex-Dolphins

Just watched a video outlining some of the reasons Flores was fired. Not much criticism of his on field coaching, but the guy rubbed staff and coaches the wrong way, he was constantly churning through them and his staff appeared to be verging on the unstable. He and Tua were not friends, and Tua was...

I have never done a trip that long, but have much shorter trips. I always have small sized bag on minute rice and a pack of Ramen, for nothing else other than a back up. Very cool. I've done some sections and although I don't have any real desire to thru hike the AT (CDT I'd love to but won't have the time) as I've seen a lot of this landscape, I'm envious of your opportunity. Hope it works out. Have you done much multi day backpacking? Re food: I steer clear of an...

Re: Chicago Bears fire HC Matt Nagy & GM Ryan Pace

This decision should have been enacted last year! But ... If the retention of Pace and Nagy last year yielded us a crap year, but the acquisition of a franchise QB in Fields, I guess it was for the best. We were at the mercy of some cap constraints anyway. Good riddance, but here's to looking forward!

Re: UPDATE: Future Head Coaching Options Discussion

I already said it, but I think McDaniels would be the best fit for our current personnel. I think he could schematically put our guys in the best position to win week to week. Like many, I hesitate because I don't like the guy from what I know of him, but all the nice guys we've hired have finished ...

Re: If the Bears franchise folded tomorrow, which team would you become a fan of?

After the Bears, I tend to look at players more than teams, but then I get a soft spot for certain teams because of the players. So with that being said, Teams that I "like" because of current and past players: 1. Cincinatti: Sam Wyche with Boomer, Icky, and Brooks and Munoz was an enterta...

The AT being the Appalachian Trail. I have an opportunity to knock a major dream item off the bucket list. Right now I'm 60% likely to go and the odds keep going up as I knock roadblocks out of the way. I have several items of gear already purchased and have been playing with some of it (familiarizi...

I see a ton of FA talent that I'd be interested to pursue: DJ Chark, Cedric Wilson, Antoine Wesley, Rashard Higgins, Gallup, Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Byron Pringle, Demarcus Robinson, Mike Williams, Jakobi Meyers. There's more names, but the list above is a pretty good pool to pick from. Add in ...

Re: Olin Kreutz was offered OL job by the Bears in '18, but...

So there’s a completely different standard between being hired by the team as a position coach, and being hired by a position coach as a consultant. Olin had never held a coaching position to the best of my knowledge. Just because he was a good player does not make him a good coach. Even good coache...

Most coaches get their start with unpaid internships. Many if not most that get hired in quality control positions get paid very little also.

Don't be too butt hurt over Olin failing to break into coaching on a top salary

Bears 27
Vikes 24

Neither defense fills me with confidence. Cousins ain't Rodgers, and I think we can contain him for awhile. If we sell out to stop Cook, and just contain the big play overtop, I think we squeak out a win

They've been running those fucking hitches and curls for Nagy's entire tenure, and it will never stop as long as he's there. It is a core part of the offense, and I'm guessing his version of a key thing to go to often in order to set up other things. Which he never gets to, because all the stars in...
