Re: 2024 NFL Rule Changes
I think the dividends of this new (and awesome) system will be revealed by midseason once coaches begin to trot out schemes to exploit this new part of the game. Roster makeup is probably going to be shifted next season too. Less emphasis on gunners will have an impact. Yeah, this may be an underra...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository
Does not quite offer what can be built on the AH site - hotels, restaurants, a Bears "experience", etc. So is Warren and the Bears "emotionally" tied to staying in Chicago on the lake front, will this influence their decision or is strictly business? Friends of the Park didn't c...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository
Chicago also won't see a Superbowl in the new stadium if they try and develop on the lakefront. Why would that be? It seems to me if the stadium is on the lakefront, it becomes a more likely site than if out in the 'burbs. Fan get to come and stay in Chicago the whole time and don't have the commut...

Same.
It's entirely possible Poles stays at #9, of course. And I'm not a betting guy. But I anticipate a move there.

Re: Packer's secret agents are still unemployed
Yes, this is largely because he appears to be stiff as a board and can't really bend. Good dude, tho. He's a fringe roster guy at this point, but you can do worse. When he was coming out of ND, I really thought it would be best if he put on 15-20lbs and moved to TE. But that ship has probably saile...

Re: Packer's secret agents are still unemployed
EQ is a hell of a blocker. Hands are iffy, tho. Wouldn’t hate another year with him here. He's fast, blocks well, and his hands aren't that bad...but he might be the worst route runner the Bears have had in the last 10 years. Yes, this is largely because he appears to be stiff as a board and can't ...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
I'm getting excited AF about Caleb Williams. My post Fields hangover has lifted, I have visions of CW throwing to DJ and Allen and Kmet, dumping off to Swift and scoring 30 PPG. I still feel like Fields got a raw deal here, but I'm over it completely. I'm not over it "completely" yet, but...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository
In my experience, Friends of the Park doesn't much consider compromise on anything. Their stances tend to be extremely balck/white.
(Their role is to protect the city lakefront for public use, so I get it.)

I didn't much like the pick at the time, and he did nothing to convince me otherwise.Rusty Trombagent wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:11 pm While I certainly dont think Tyler Scott is going to keep #13, I'm really surprised just how many people are completely down on him around here.
But he still has time to make me eat my words.

Re: Bears sign DL Byron Cowart
Turner is definitely a top 10 pick. From a talent standpoint, Latu absolutely is. Just depends on how teams feel about his health. Turner is absolutely a top 10 pick, for a 3-4 team. Maybe the Bears think he can play DE, I dunno. I have doubts about it, but I've been wrong before. I'd bet he's Atla...

There are some Day 3 guys who have returned punts too. The best-known is probably Texas A&M's Ainias Smith, but Anthony Gould (Oregon St), Tayvion Robinson (Kentucky), Xay Weaver (Colorado), and Jalen Calhoun (Duke) all have plenty of experience returning punts and some decent production at rec...

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure no one has any doubts about Caleb Williams as a football talent. (I certainly don't.) Any concerns about him are about his intangibles. If those are good? He's a complete no-brainer selection, the kind of guy you sprint up to the podium to draft. And nothing anyo...

Re: Justin Fields traded to Pittsburgh for conditional pick
They should also know the caliber of player too though (and Players do dumb stuff all the time - IIRC there was a WR who thought Michael Crabtree was one of the 5 Best WR EVER) But when they are paying attention and the market is giving a 4th/5th for Fields (I know its a conditional 6th) and being ...

I did note that they were minor. Still, an amalgam of minor red flags may combine to make a major one. But that's why NFL teams do their investigations. Even calling those things red flags feels a bit melodramatic to me. At worst they feel like parts of his personality quirk that you want to know s...

Stuff like this really does help GMs sort through the list. What he did was bad judgement, but it doesn't change my opinion on him too much. From reading everything, it seems like he was compliant, wasn't intoxicated, didn't illegally obtain the firearm, and agreed to surrender it as a condition of...

I think they signed Coleman to start at C and traded for Bates to be insurance inside. I'll be surprised if they don't look to draft someone to be the the heir apparent to Coleman, especially with him only inking a one-year deal.

Thunder, you make several good points: there are MINOR red flags. Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread
I really don't think they did. They traded a #1 overall pick for a top tier WR, had a great TE at his disposal, used their top pick after trading back on an OL. They changed the offense to suit his style. Provided a strong defense. I'm not saying the team was perfect, but let's not act like they di...

Poles is not part of the same front office that drafted Justin and threw him to the wolves after Week 3. He's not part of the front offfice that drafted Trubisky and threw him in after game 4. For whatever it's worth, I think history (e.g., looking at the ROI for the Panthers in the Sam Darnold trade) and contract (one year remaining) was a confluence with a collection of available guys who only cost money, not draft capital, working in tandem against the Bears here. No team wanted to rep...
