Interesting prospect stories

One of the reasons I love Dane Brugler's Beast is the history he does on prospects. I really enjoy learning some of where the guys came from on their way to becoming draft prospects. The best story I learned this year was that of Rutgers DB Trevor Yeboah-Kodie , who played RB in high school and then...

Following up on Frazier: he's basically a lighter, slightly more explosive Steve Avila . We know the Bears loved Avila last year, so it's not wild to assume they like Frazier this year. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2023/2/16/23603133/chicago-bears-nfl-draft-2023-doing-plenty-of-work-tcu-steve-...

I'd take that bet
I mean, it's possible.

I think Fuaga would be an. All-Pro guard next to Darnell Wright. I do not see him as a standout at T on either side, personally. Like most things, YMMV.

Minor notes: Tyler Nubin shit the bed at his pro day Zach Frazier's was seriously underwhelming Nubin (and to a lesser extent Kinchens) will need to be exceptional diagnosing plays to compensate for athletic deficiencies. I'm not willing to take that risk, and I don't expect the Bears to be willing...

First 8 picks go: QB QB QB Harrison QB (Minny trades with the Chargers) Nabers Odunze (Jets trade with Titans) Turner So Alt is sitting there as is Bowers, Fuaga, Verse, and Latu. What are you going to do? I say take Alt much as Bowers is tempting.10 year rocks at both tackles. Speaking as one of t...

Re: Draft Prospects: WR

Legette's story is more complicated than his stats. He's had coaches convert him to RB and a running QB when they needed him, and he's had coaches leave after they recruited him. It took him awhile to find enough stability to allow him to succeed. It's definitely an interesting history. The guy did...

Re: Offensive Line thoughts

If they're gonna draft someone in the first round as a LT — assuming Alt is off the board — I'd bet their target is Fautanu. I admit I like Fautanu's projection better as a guard than as a tackle, but they're going to love his nasty demeanor and his ability to climb to the second level.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

Verse is 23, when he turns 24 other rookies will be 22..It matters, but how much might be exaggerated. Also, look at his 2022 tape. If he came out last year he probably would have been a top 5 pick. Drafting him now, could be viewed as him being even more prepared to start and contribute immediatel...

Pearsall is likely a 2nd rounder, but he'd be on my list for sure.

Keon Coleman, like Pearsall, would be a surprise to be there, but his 40-time might depress his value enough.

Tez Walker, maybe.
Jalen McMillan.
Javon Baker.

I'd bet a hefty sum that Guyton goes on Day 1.

Barton is a maybe, as his arm length probably pushes him inside, but his athletic testing would suggest he's got loads of promise there.

Fast, runs good routes from slot or backfield, can catch anything, isn't afraid to lower his shoulder at times, changes direction pretty well.

Nicely done, Yogi.

I don't think Dexter was all that much of a reach either. Higher than I would've taken him, but that's not the same thing.

And I don't think Yogi has to prove anything either way. Fuck that.

If the Chiefs call and offer Mahomes straight up, or the Chargers call and offer Herbert and the #5, I'm not hanging up the phone.

If Washington calls, and Poles just adores a second QB, I might talk for #2, #36, #40, #101, a 2025 #1 and #3, and a 2026 #1.

I hate to dissuade anybody, but Poles is NOT getting either Turner or Fuaga. Turner is strictly an OLB. When you move him to DE, his RAS goes from 9.22 to 8.82. There are a whole bunch of DEs better than that. He might be used as trade bait like Carter was last year, but Poles ain't taking him. I w...

I think the dividends of this new (and awesome) system will be revealed by midseason once coaches begin to trot out schemes to exploit this new part of the game. Roster makeup is probably going to be shifted next season too. Less emphasis on gunners will have an impact. Yeah, this may be an underra...
