Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Some quoted excerpts from Bob McGinn's annual anony-scout quotes. “He’s a better route-running A.J. Brown from Philly,” one scout said. “He’s going to be a good, strong, built-to-last player.” “I enjoyed watching his progression over the years,” a second scout said. “He’s very polished but he’s (als...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC
Some quoted excerpts from Bob McGinn's annual anony-scout quotes. “I think Caleb has the best chance to bust but also has the best chance to be freakin’ special,” one scout said. “I think he’s boom or bust. There are plays he makes that are fantastic where he scrambles and throws 50 yards downfield ...

Re: Smoke Season: Post Your Best (or Worse) Pre-Draft Rumors
Yeah I read that they did a group visit with all the draft QB's at TopGolf and didn't spend much 1 on 1 time with Jayden, which he wasn't happy about. I've always heard his preference was Raiders or Vikings, but didn't know if it was to the level that he would try to force anything. Should be noted...

I mean, Caleb and Olu played HS ball together. So I assume they're at least friendly.

Well, yeah, what's not to like? "Taylor was a three-time All-American and in his final season was a unanimous first-team All-American and won the Ray Guy Award for the nation's best punter. He also holds the Big Ten Conference record for career average yards per punt with 46.3 yards." Wha...

Re: My Guy for the 2024 Draft
Been doing a lot of 3rd round and down guys. Some of the listed prospects may be late 2nd but have a chance to gwt into the third. Here are the top 4 "my guys" and then a list of others I like. 1. Jermaine Burton, Alabama, WR- very good hands, great deep threat, and experienced. Great get...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository
Just an aside, I will delete my post if I open a can of worms, but I'm still not over that they opened this thing with a prayer. It feels really, really tonedeaf to ask God to bless the Bears and Chicago with the olympics and super bowls. I get that jobs will be created and all that, but this entir...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository
This has less chance of becoming a reality than the White Sox going on a 100-game heater this season. Kevin Warren has determined that pageantry like this is the only way to get Arlington Heights back to the negotiating table. If that wasn't the case, the Bears would already have Arlington Park back...

Kneeland is a good one, and would seem to fit the Poles/Flus mold too. I won't be surprised if he's a trade-down target.

We think Caleb Williams is the real deal. I'm confident most of us hope he is.
We won't know for a while yet, though. We just won't.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?
Man, with seemingly everyone excited about gervon dexter going into year two, i just refuse to entertain DT being our other first round pick, or even 3T being some kind of priority. Drafting another DT high would seem to indicate they've soured on either Dexter or Pickens after just one year. That ...

You never have enough CBs. I'm not advocating drafting one at #1 (obviously) or #9, but wouldn't object nearly anywhere else. CB play is volatile and injuries happen all the time.

https://x.com/ImBearingDown/status/1781671220137590946 GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I know a bunch of Al Davis's in here would rather draft Darrius Heyward-Bey... sorry, I mean Malik Nabers. But man, gimme a fully developed WR like Odunze any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I'm very big on Odunze (...

I won't say I don't still harbor some reservations, because that would be a lie.
That said, if a different approach to the game can be overblown, old-school football guys will find a way to do so.

No harm in seeing what the market will bear. You might land a Carolina-level trade.
Of course, teams always demand a high price, until push comes to shove and the market isn't what they hoped. And then suddenly they don't.

Re: Jer’zhan Newton
Latu is my favorite defensive player in the draft by a wide margin. But I'm honestly not interested in taking on an injury risk. If Turner is off the table and the Bears are targeting a DE, I'm fine with Verse. I like Latu a lot. I just don't expect that the Bears' medical team is comfortable with ...

Trenches win games, Poles.
