Re: Week 1 // Bears (0-0) vs Titans (0-0)

Titans HC Brian Callahan in his Monday presser: “If we’d just punted on 1st & 10 every time, we might’ve won the game” Ouch! Yeah, well, maybe you should've done that then, guy. Your QB threw a pick-6 and your special teams got a punt block returned for a TD on them. Maybe your team got outplay...

Re: Game Balls and Horns Wk 1 vs TEN

As much as people may want it, I don't think you can go with Bates at C while he's still playing with 1 arm. You're pretty stuck for at least a week or two. There's a reason Kramer is on the 53 man right now (and it's not because he's so good). Correct. I also think Bates is a "break glass in ...

Re: Waldrons debut

For you peeps that know, what adjustments would you have liked to see from Waldron to mitigate the poor offensive line? Immediate thought is not going empty backfield so often on 3rd down. Maybe I'm misremembering how many times it actually happened, but I remember being shocked at how frequently i...

Re: Week 1 // Bears (0-0) vs Titans (0-0)

I knew it was bad, but god damn this is some awful tape. My "favorite" is the play at about 0:42, where he gets absolutely trucked by a blitzing LB. It's one thing to have a hard time with the DL, but to get totally demolished like that by a LB? He looks like he's going to be a massive pr...

Re: Caleb Williams Mega-Thread

Williams looked like a rookie QB in his first game, just now realizing the speed of the NFL. I remember a story from the old Mike & Mike ESPN Radio show, oh, probably 20 years ago now, talking about some player's rookie year (don't remember who, it wasn't Golic). Paraphrasing the story: the NFL ...

Re: A word about Ryan Poles

Some better play calling happened in the 3rd Q, when the Bears stopped trying to run inside, toward the strength of the Titans' defense, and started trying to run outside. Kudos to Waldron for that. FWIW, I look at whether formations and personnel become predictors. I don't think I can tell that wit...

Re: Countdown to 53 (2024)

I think the whole "vet QB" thing is becoming outdated. Now you want a QB room of reasonably cheap talent that can execute the offense. Paying a subpar QB 8 million a year is kinda silly these days. This is a reasonable take. Moreover, in five years, Brett Rypien has had the same number of...

He’s had a few fails (Ogun, Claypool, etc) but no one is infallible and his overall body of work has been absolutely stellar IMO Not to mention he's been incredibly lucky having back-to-back #1 overall picks. I shudder to think what the Bears roster might look like today if that hadn't happened. Th...

Re: A word about Ryan Poles

It's just my opinion, but Ogunjobi was a mistake because his production in the subsequent seasons didn't justify the offered contract (not unlike "who could the Bears have drafted instead of x player" debates). That the knee injury ended up voiding the contract was fortunate for the Bears ...

I like Ryan Poles and appreciate the work he's done. I'm not convinced he's the second coming of Ozzie Newsome, mind you; he's had some significant missteps (which, to his credit, he doesn't cling to out of stubbornness), and I'm willing to bet that Ian Cunningham has been a very good regulator on P...

This says Poles was only in if there was an extension, which is better. Last week, the Atlanta Falcons sent a third-round pick to the Pats for Judon, which is the same thing that Poles offered. However, Poles would only make the trade if the 32-year-old Judon agreed to a contract extension. Conside...

Wheeler is the sort of player that the practice squad was designed for. Cut him, resign him there, and see if a year's worth of NFL diet and workouts lets him add 10-15 lbs without losing his athleticism. If so, maybe you have something; if not, he got a nice payday for a year, you shake his hand, a...

I personally would most likely cut Davis when it comes time to get to the 53, but I'll understand if the Bears don't do that.
