Re: Bears Coaching Search: 2025 Edition
Anyone else think this is all part a mad Jerry Jones plan to pair Sanders Sr at HC with Sanders Jr at QB?
Sanders Sr keeps saying his son won't play for just any team and the Cowboys have the 12th overall pick to package with Prescott (after eating some of his contract) and other compensation ...

Re: Houston / LAC
Harbaugh did great with a seriously flawed team. Get Herbert a single outside WR that doesnt have stone hands. Continue to work on the OL. I think his insistence on Greg Roman will forever hold them back but that team seriously overachieved this year imo.
I have no problem giving Harbaugh his ...

Re: Player Awards 2024
I'm not sure that Kmet was as much underappreciated as he was under utilized.
Underappreciated by the coaching staff, for sure.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Offense: Best performer was Darnell Wright. Caleb Williams was probably the most valuable, though.
Defense: Hard to go with anyone but Jaylon ...

Very Bears mentality there IMO
How about for once we just do the obvious thing with the obvious choice and not let another organization get the jump on us?
There was nothing obvious about Matt LaFleur. There was nothing obvious about Dan Campbell.
Or Kevin O'Connell.
Or, hell, Mike ...

Re: Houston / LAC
Chargers played poorly, no doubt.
3 of Herbert's 4 INTs should have been catches, though, and it's fair to say Harbaugh is ahead of schedule on turning that team around.
They might collapse next season, of course, cos it's the NFL and any given Sunday. But Jim Harbaugh is a good coach, one who ...

Bates doesn't cost another dime until the 2025 regular season starts.
I believe he's due a roster bonus but I'm not sure when that is paid, beginning of the '25 league year?
Fair point, I wasn't aware of the roster bonus and that's my fault for not looking it up.

Re: Bears Sign OL Jordan McFadden (2023 5th Round Pick of LAC)
Keep him as depth, cut Bates, save $4m
He made $883K in '23 and $993K in '24. He was signed for $1.1M in '25, I image the Bears offer about the same. Bates is signed for $4M for '25; I'm not sure if there would any cap saving with a pre- versus post June 1 cut.
Bates doesn't ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I left out Simmons because of the injury, but yeah if he’s healthy he’s the best OT prospect IMO. Easily top 12.
Rosenhaus (his agent) says he's "ahead of schedule" and should be cleared for practice by start of NFL training camp.
I think he's fucking good... do you dare take him at #10 if ...

Re: Bears Sign OL Jordan McFadden (2023 5th Round Pick of LAC)
The two consistent testing measurements for offensive linemen Poles has selected in the draft have been the 10-yard split in the 40 and the broad jump. We obviously don't have public numbers on Kiran Amegadjie, but of the five we do have numbers for, 4 of them were in the 75th percentile for the 10 ...

Rich is just pandering to Rusty now.
Fair enough. Bagent is an oversight by me. (That's in no small part because I had an early Day 3 draftable grade on him and I completely forgot he went undrafted.)

Re: Keep On Cringing About Center
If they're high ebough on Stromberg we probably don't bother even drafting one low right? They need a free agent, probably Shelton and he won't take another one year deal. So unless we're cutting Bates that's already 3 center options. Maybe someone low enough to stash on the practice squad ...

Re: Bears Coaching Search: 2025 Edition
I have serious concerns about fit with Abdul Carter, and he's going to be a liability against the run for sure, maybe for his whole career. I think he's a 3-4 OLB only and a 4-3 team could only use him for like 10 snaps a game.
But someone is (rightly) going to want to put those pass-rushing tools ...

The luck factor is being vastly overplayed. If luck was such a dramatic factor, why are some teams bad most of the time and others are successful more often than not?

Re: Futures Contracts 2025
I think a good part of this is the massive opportunity problem the NFL has. Limited practice time, no B league and a 17 game season means that opportunities are few and far between, especially in a position where it's harder to wow in practice.
I sometimes thing about the types of player that ...
