I just don't know these players well enough to have a full response here, but at least with the Top 4 picks I'd have done this (using full hindsight)
10. Loveland (on draft night I expected/slightly preferred Warren, but now that I've read about this kid I prefer Loveland)
39. Burden (I'm in on a ...

Re: General statement about fan based team building
Let’s just say, for arguments sake, BPA for our R1 pick in 2026 is a QB does that mean we should use our R1 pick on him even though we have Caleb?
BPA doesn’t make sense for me for this reason.
Very few things make sense when you take them all the way out to a logical extremity without being ...

Re: R4 P132: Ruben Hyppolite II, LB - Maryland
FWIW - Maryland is not competitive on the DL against Big 10 powerhouses. Like at all, complete mismatch. It’s hard for a LB to produce in that environment.wab wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 11:00 amYep. Which tracks with how little he produced.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 10:53 am

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
He was awfully good, pre-injury.
I think we could definitely take the time for a little tire-kicking, given our options, even if 2023 didn't look very encouraging.
Chubb never averaged LESS than 5 ypc in his career until last year when he was coming off the ACL (3.3 ypc). He should be ...

Re: General statement about fan based team building
I think the Bears can shore up RB with JK Dobbins or take a runner on Chubb.
DE isn't great but Deyo is an improvement over the JAGs we lost (I can only think of Jacob Martin). Meanwhile, DT is much improved. Safety is an area of concern. All in all though, the defense should outperform last ...

General statement about fan based team building
I didn't want to target any one person here because I see small pieces of this from so many people either here or on Twitter or when talking to people directly about this. But something is really bugging me about a logical fallacy that I see over and over again, so here it is:

They dont even get to bring those cool helmets with them....And Lockley can recruit but couldnt coach. Same with South Carolina kids

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
I dunno, I tend to believe Poles when he said that the RB part of the draft just sort of didn't fall our way. At several points it seemed like RB's went right before our pick. I believe if Henderson was there we'd have taken him over Burden. Jeanty as you said, would have been picked at 10 ...

Re: R4 P132: Ruben Hyppolite II, LB - Maryland
I’ve watched most of Maryland’s games the last few years so I have seen him play a lot. He’s a really good player. And I think he fits Dennis Allen’s LB profile pretty well. We needed a LB, I’m not mad about this pick at all. I think the CB is a bigger reach.

Re: Compare and Contrast -- Lions vs Bears
I think there is more potential at QB, WR and TE. I think that he had a better OL in Detroit, and better RB's.
Certainly Swift & <yeah, whatever> is a looooonnnnnnngg way off from Gibbs & Montgomery
Caleb is nowhere near Goff territory yet
WR maybe a push
TE to the Bears, if Loveland is ...

Re: One of these things is not like the others....
We'll see what happens. I think that there is a strong veteran group in our locker room, and I think, like a lot of these draft picks, they still have some growing up to do. I know that when I was 20-22 years old, I wasn't half as put together as most of these kids. And many of them are coming ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I agree Art, but receiving is half the TE job - it's not the only criteria for what makes a "starter". Starter is really a nebulous concept anyways, it's about snap counts. There is a need to have both skill sets and both skill sets will get a healthy snap count, Kmet may do more blocking while ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
JMO, but I think they just saw a good T and took him because we needed another T to develop. I don't think they have anything set in their heads and will train him up on both sides as any swing would, and go from there. Wright might get hurt also, so even if we find that he's "just a RT" I'm ok with ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
My theory is Ben Johnson isn't an idiot and knows not to pay or overdraft running backs. We got one in the 7th, I'm excited to see what he can do behind a better oline.
Well to be fair, he was part of a team that drafted a RB at #12.
I think it was Jeanty or bust and that other than him ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Loveland is likely destined to be TE1 - he appears to have more upside than Kmet - and may actually be the better blocker in addition to being a significantly better natural route runner and pass catcher.
Burnett and Frazier seem to be the best values in the draft - at least at this stage ...

Not drafting an OT by end of Rd 3.
Not getting one of the top 5 RBs
And you gave the draft an "A"?
Echoing the rest......no trade up in the first.
Ending Day 2 of the draft without a new RB and DE.
And...here we are...

My take on the draft thus far
Grade: A
Poles is doing a really nice job with the draft. He’s filling our needs and at each pick he’s getting really solid value in the process. I had a moment of concern when we took Burden, but Poles then made a really smart trade down that netted us two strong “Top 60” LOS players.

So we need DE and RB and I’d like to see a S and LB brought in also. Feels to me like Poles has done a really nice job here. This may be the least drama we’ve ever had in terms of setting our 53, we are LOADED.
