Re: The 2024 Draft

I don't watch college tape, but this is my concern with Daniels. He played a long time and only popped last year, while having an elite WR on his side in Nabers. I wanted to keep Fields and all, but never waivered on Caleb being the choice if we drafted someone at #1. Daniels is going to a bad offen...

Re: Nattering Negative Numnut

Mine is that I'm worried our defense isn't nearly as good as most think it's going to be. The Cover 2 style, bend don't break, and late game prevent defense stuff doesn't work well as we struggle to get any sort of pass rush and opposing QB's sit comfortably in the pocket and work their way downfiel...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository

I’m not, I’m noting how fans constantly get this wrong. They bitch over a minor tax while putting a major landmark at risk. It’s a short sighted complaint that has the potential to blow up in their faces. And if it does, they'll all look around dumbfounded at each other and blame the owner right or ...

Re: Bears New Stadium Nonsense Repository

Good lord. People are gonna fuck around and find out here. Same story every time, people bitch about a $5 tax increase, team leaves town. This needs to get done. The potentional cost from city is much higher than that. And if the Bears leave, what is the net loss to the city? Teams leaves and costs...

Re: What about 2025???

Like I said earlier upthread, I am happy that we will be AS FAR AWAY from the "Sanders Draft Circus" as humanly possible. I am really glad that we handled our Franchise Quarterback business this year, and that the Sanders' clan will be somebody else's problem. Yea, I'd stay 100 miles away...

Re: The 2024 Draft

So I'm looking around at the top QB picks in the 2024 draft, and the best rookie QB/WR combo that I can find outside of the Bears is Drake Maye and Ja'Lynn Polk. Which on paper is pretty good. #3 QB pick overall along with a 6'1" receiver in round two that had over 1000 yards receiving for the...

Re: He Gone: Trenton Gill Cut

I love Ryan Poles. Yea, he blew a 6th round pick on Gill but misses in the 6th round happen big whoop. What he didn't do was ignore the obvious problem at a position that isn't considered uber significant, instead he admitted his mistake and cut his losses (literally lol). He did the same with Chase...

Re: The 2024 Draft

Two things I will say about that: 1.) Who's to say the Packers wouldn't have made it to a super bowl if they had been all-in and tried to surround Rodgers with more weapons? Tee Higgins went just a few picks later, at the top of the 2nd round, for example. 2.) Drafting a QB at #8 is a bit different...

Re: The 2024 Draft

I don't want to belabor this point too much because this is a Bears forum. But what the FUCK were the Falcons doing?? Yes they absolutely could have taken Rome Odunze, but they needed help on defense even more. So the answer was...blow a #8 pick on a 24 year-old late-first round ranked QB that's no...

Re: R5 P144: Austin Booker, Edge - Kansas

At 6'1" and around 205 lbs, Ed Sprinkle played DE for the Bears, went to the Hall of Fame, and was largely considered the meanest pass rusher of his era. He passed away a few years ago at 90 . He even played TE as well. He was known as "The Claw" for his clothesline tackling. Anyway,...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC

From the Athletic: The historic odds of a Top-10 QB disappointing in the NFL: 41 percent. That sounds extremely low to me Agree, it all depends on how they define “disappointing” I do agree with the premise that Caleb’s odds will be well above the norm though, for the reasons already given.

Re: Some last minute fill ins for the roster

I'm in on those DL for sure...I can't see Boyd coming here, we already have 3 guys that are gonna need a lot of targets. He wants to go somewhere where he will actually get more action as he's already stuck behind Higgins/Chase in Cincy. It'd be even worse here.

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC

However, a counterpoint I would make often to my SC friends is that look who he is throwing/not throwing too. It was a very pedestrian group of receivers and he was behind a line at SC that makes the Chicago Bear Offensive lines look amazingly good. This is a point that I dont think can be stressed...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa

He has a big leg, but his ability to place the ball is what is most enticing to me. Rugby/Aussie Rules guys know how to put English on the ball and can make it bounce how they want. When you can pin a team inside the 5 it’s damn near a turnover as teams typically just try and create a little room f...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC

Good God. That is so fucking pathetic. With Allen, Moore, Odunze, and Kmet on the field. He should be able to throw for 130 yards blindfolded. If Williams can average 3,856 yards a season over the course of his rookie contract then by the end of his third year he will be third on the Bears all-time...

Re: The 2024 Draft

It isn't that I WANT Jenkins to go. I just don't think Poles will pay him whatever the market is for an oft injured guard when we have a ton of picks next year. TBH with you I don't know what my preference is. I respect the argument for replacing him via the draft. Jenkins misses a lot of games. Wh...

Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale

This kid is a big unknown, limited PT in college and played Ivy League. He could become a starter, he could absolutely blow. The best part is he doesn’t have to start right away, he can adapt to the NFL without being rushed into action.

Re: 2024 Draft: Is This Our Greatest Draft Ever?

Like all drafts, the impact won't be known for several years from now. And this draft is all about Caleb Williams, if he's the goods then this is the best draft ever for us IMO. 90% of that statement will be based on CW achieving elite QB status, everything else is just window dressing IMO.

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa

Only thing I can think of is the wide hash marks giving directional punters an advantage they won’t have in the NFL. Poles said he’s the best punter prospect he’s ever seen, that’s good enough for me.

Plus, my hatred for Gill is the stuff of legends.

Me after drafting CW - Meh, was the obvious pick Me after drafting Rome - Meh, looks like a great player but do we really need another WR? Me after drafting an OT - Why in the heck are we ignoring the biggest hole on our team, the DL? Me after drafting a P: https://uploads.dailydot.com/2020/04/leo-p...

Re: So, how do we address our last hole on the team?

If we sign both Ngakoue and Greene - both available - then we would be really close to last years DL. Poles said in his presser our need was DL but he went BPA - I’m cool with that. I’m happy he knows DL is an issue and I expect he’s going to do something about it. He can’t wait too long, there’s ar...
