Re: Bears roster: Where do we stand
I don't think that's true or relevant.
He played in 11 games and only was credited with 4 starts.
The Bears didn't want to keep him afterwards as a 3, 4, or anything, at any price.
His next stop was for vet min and he wasn't a WR3 that year, either.
And there was no next stop, because he ...

JMO but this sounds like trying to defend an old, bad take on Hurts vs accepting you got that one wrong. It's a continuance of your dislike of dual threat players, which I get is a preference thing. Here's what Hurts has done in his 5 seasons in the NFL....

Re: Bears roster: Where do we stand
I'm cool with Carter also, but since he's a UFA I just consider him like any other UFA whether he has prior ties to our team or not. He'd be one of those lower cost additions that fills a KR/PR/WR5 type role, and he'd be nice value there.

Well if it’s true that doesn’t make me feel great about Poles. How do you miss that badly between him and Kliff Kingsbury? Yikes.

Re: Build the Lines
You’re right HRS, I typed the number wrong. But made the correct point. Bates was the primary IOL backup and Pryor was next, which is exactly what I said verbatim. So despite of the number mistake the point remains unchanged. You guys are double counting Pryor, he can’t be both first off the bench ...

Re: Build the Lines
I disagree here, and that’s ok it doesn’t need to start a fight. IMO if you draft a guy to be your swing tackle then he needs to be more ready to play as a rookie. Injuries are a near certainty in the NFL and Poles left himself exposed, and we (certainly Caleb) paid dearly for it. Pryor can’t be ...

I think we will have a few drafted pro bowlers when we start winning. Wright and Dex and Caleb and Rome and Gordon all feel like they are headed that way.

Re: Saints hire Moore …
Moore is a guy I’ve liked for a long time. I’m curious to see if he can be a HC, he feels like he might top out as an excellent OC but we should find out soon. I soured on him a bit during his time with the Chargers - he threw way too much - but he showed versatility in Phillybwith a run heavy ...

Yea that’s what I was thinking. Can live with him as WR4 and maybe a guy like Johnson as WR6, but WR3 appears to be a real need.

Re: Bears roster: Where do we stand
I found myself trying to strip out the guys who aren't gonna be on the 53 man roster, and add in the restricted FA's that will, to get a better view of how we need to attack FA and Draft. So I went ahead and copied wab's work and altered it to reflect that POV and identify how many openings there ...

Re: Build the Lines
I can see this being a viable path forward. Fries is a really good player and I'd be thrilled to get him, and then getting Dalman at C would just really raise our power at the point of attack significantly over what we've had in recent years with Mustipher, Patrick, Shelton. I like Bates in that ...

Re: Running Backs - where do we go
IMO the question of "where do we draft a RB" comes down to how much we do in Free Agency at the LOS. We need 3 IOL starters and we need upgrades at DT and DE. So 5 bigtime needs at the LOS, how many do we address in FA will dictate how many of those first 3 picks need to go to that area. I'm firmly ...

As politely and honestly as I can say it, yes you are making that mistake. Again, it's easy to make and something I've done myself. Really, stop worrying about gotcha stuff and just engage friend to friend and we'll all have a better time here. Even if you think I'm not being consistent (maybe ...

Re: Ian Cunningham 2nd interview w/ TEN
I think he's pretty good, it seems like he helps keep Ryan Poles calm (I recall Poles wanting to trade up for Odunze and Cunningham basically forcing him to 'chill out').
My worry goes the other way where, perhaps, maybe Poles wouldn't be as good without Cunningham. But I digress...
I ...

LOL....fair enough. But why is it that every single criticism that's been levied against his record to date has been vociferously defended then? Like, I'm not even deep on the KA thing, I've said 10 times I think he could be a good player I just had a nit about the timing of the selection. But ...

I’m 100% in agreement with this Grendel. If you aren’t making mistakes you aren’t moving at an effective pace IMO, and then the key is not clinging to your mistakes and moving off them quickly (which ironically can sometimes be a mistake too!)
I don’t fault those mistakes, what bothers me most ...

Look at how much Howie Roseman invests in his OL in both draft and FA resources
To be fair, there’s only one FA on either of the Eagles lines. Becton. The rest were drafted.
One starter on the OL was drafted in R1. Two starters on the DL were drafted in R1. Granted they shifted to a 3-4 and ...
