There is a GM named Poles
Who has a clear set of goals
He’s rebuilt his team
So Bears’ fans can dream
Of winning some more Super Bowls
Got any Penix poems? :D

So haven't been on here in a few days, but I want everyone to know at some point this after noon, I will be working "howler monkeys" into my ruling. (dealing with parents who have had their kids come into state custody and working to get them back so it will be easy at some point to do th...

wulfy wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:19 am I'd love a scenario to move back from 9 about 5 or 6 spots, get a R2 in the 40s, for example: Raiders pick at 13 and their R2 at 44.

Then I go Jared Verse and Ricky Pearsall, or one of the Texas WRs (who I don't expect to be there at 44).
Now that's what I'm talking about.

Re: Different trade scenario

I don't think that's necessarily true. So I looked it up. Last year, Dell was drafted in the third and Puka was drafted in the fifth round. Two years ago, Doubs was drafted in the fourth. Three years ago, Nico Collins was drafted in the third and Amon-Ra was drafted in the fourth. I only found Moon...

Re: Different trade scenario

The problem with this is that if you go edge in round 1, the draft is so deep at WR you're going to find a damn good one in the third, maybe even in a trade down from the third. I still think that Brendan Rice makes a whole lot of sense as Caleb is already familiar with him. But there's also somebo...

Re: Different trade scenario

I think we're going to find someone of impact at 9. If we can get Odunze or Nabors---boom you take him. If they're gone, you get the best Edge Rusher available. What do you guys think of this? What about trading up from 75 after having done the above? Maybe you get your Edge guy and then move up co...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized

I searched for awhile this morning and couldnt find anything saying this. I'd think it'd be a big deal if this was actually out there, because some people would be trying to drag Poles for trading for a player without handshake agreeing on an extension first. Regardless, it certainly doesnt make se...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

Anyone else getting anxious now that we're only 10 days away from the draft?? Not at all! Excited. A bit impatient. Very positive. The Bears are drafting a generational talent at QB for the first time ever and will get another blue chip prospect. The team is set up in great shape. Nows the time to ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

One thing that keeps popping up we seldom discuss is the possibility of using 2025 pick(s) to add another Day Two 2024 pick. I'd like to think that Poles has put that in the hopper as well so if a player he has a 1st round grade on drops to where he feels he can make a trade and get him I'd love to...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized

Chris Jones was signed to an 80 mill contract in 2022 and just resigned to a 158 mill deal. Tyreek signed a 3 year 54 mill contract in 2019. Mahomes was signed to a 477 mill contract in 2020. In 2022, the Chiefs had to trade Hill because they could not afford the 120 mill extension that Miami signed...

Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized

One thing to think about long term in taking a receiver is that you'll have BOTH your QB and your #1 receiver (hopefully) reaching the end of their rookie contracts at the same time. That would be a lot of money coming due on those two positions at the same time. Something to be concerned with cert...

Johnny Knox wore 13 and he was a good player until that horrible injury. Even more reason NOT to let Allen have it. Talk about jinx. :frustrated: Loved Johnny Knox though. Re: I think we Bears fans are traumatized

If Poles drafts Turner or Verse, then Walker isn't a starter, and is a prime candidate to be cut in the near future, because he hasn't panned out. You can draft another WR with a pick other than #9. We will have Moore and Allen for more than one season. Moore is one of the best wide receivers in th...

I like verse a lot, more so than Latu because he hasn’t medically retired from football recently. Plus I think you can trade down into the 12-15 range, get an extra bite or two, and still get him. The question becomes though, why is Verse the same age as Latu? Latu missed two years of football beca...

So you're looking for Penix to drop in on our party here and show his face? Penix! Show yourself! Come on in and and get lathered up with us! Re: 30 Visits

I feel like finding an elite 3T is almost as hard as finding an elite QB. There's no Aaron Donald type prospect in this class (at least according to the experts), so chasing that seems foolish to me. Absolutely. What I don't want is them getting impatient, throwing a R2-4 at a 3T just because "...
