Re: DL Reconstruction…so far

Taking Double A first is starting to grow on me. At 9? I don't know - if he is going to be as good as people seem to think, then why not? Why not get that 5th year for a stud DT? The Bears only have one first rounder - so if they're taking someone at 9 I can rationalize it. Trading down and risking...

Re: 9th Pick

I like Jones and think he will be a middle of the road starting RT at the next level. To me, that means constantly ranking somewhere between 10-20. That said, when watching his full games, I see him struggling just a little to get out vs the speed rush…He recovers because of his long arms, but in s...

Re: 9th Pick

Love Jones since day 1. Still do. But he is not what we are looking for as in scheme fit. As Poles said in his conversation about why we didn't go for Orlando Brown. You want a scheme fit to Tee. Even though he isn't a first-rounder. Here he is. BLAKE FREELAND OT BYU | NFL DRAFT PROFILE & SCOUT...

Ok. Then we very very much disagree across the board here. Will see how it plays out I didn't think the Wright kid looked all that good during Senior Bowl practice and moved worse than Jones - And that is with Jones being a Planet Killer size wise Here is some Senior Bowl footage from his 1 day the...

Re: DL Reconstruction…so far

What if they can’t get a 3T they really like? I think they’re pleased with what they got from Justin Jones, and if they had to go to the season with him as the starter, given they also find their LDE, there could be worse things. Jones played decent ball with a bunch of scrubs around him last year....

Re: Myles Murphy

Watching that Geogia game more closely, I find Murphy finding himself in no man's land quite a bit--halfway between the QB and an outlet. I think much of that was Georgia's scheme. He also bit quite a bit on play action pass. Again, Georgia's scheme. Watching more tape, the biggest criticism I have ...

Re: 2023 Free Agency News / Rumors / Transactions

Why not just go out and sign Ngakoue? It fixes a DE spot. He's still out there. You and I see this the same way. There’s no reason not to! Even if he isn’t a perfect fit. Even if his price is a little bit higher than Poles wants. Even if he wants to “build through the draft “. All of those things a...

Not me. In that tape, I see Murphy quite often double teamed, and I witnessed a lot of speed on that sack. Don't see near the same athleticism from Van Ness. I like Van Ness, but lower in the first.

Re: 9th Pick

I agree Poles won't take a RT at #9. shou Anderson and Smith: I see them as natural 3-4 OLBs. Considering how true Poles is to scheme, I don't see him trading up for Anderson or taking Smith. Love Tyree. He is perfect, but I don't think there's any way he lasts to #9. Myles Murphy: Absolutely love ...

Re: Whitehair starting C for 2023 Bears?

Sad, but I'd still ask your back surgeon on at least trying it. You know, Pilates was designed from a hospital bed I believe. And you don't have to go full hard core. Just laying flat on your back with your knees up and feet flat on the floor (or bed if you want) and slowly dropping your knees from ...

Couldn't agree more, especially regarding the linemen, much better indicators. Really, about the only NFL player whose speed impressed me was Chris Johnson, running back with the Titans, he had afterburners in his shoes. That dude was FAST and so fun to watch. Screw you guys. Re: Explain the Skoronski love to me please

OL coaches look at a guy's footwork primarily. Skoronski has excellent footwork, balance, and football IQ. OTs don't get beat because of having short arms. The other thing that Poles looks for in this scheme is whether the prospect has short area movement skills. Critical for getting those reach bl...

Exposing the Forty Fallacy

The 40-yard dash is undeniably the most often cited athletic test with respect to NFL Draft Prospects, including by me. But the 40 is often misleading as hell. Devin Hester, for instance, was timed at 4.43 at the Combine, but on the field, he certainly seemed much faster than that. I know I never sa...

Re: Bengals OT Jonah Williams requests trade

The reason he wants to be traded is that he's in his 5th Year Option and wants to be a LT, not a RT or an OG. With that in mind, I don't think he makes sense. Plus he lead the league for LTs with 12 sacks given up. We want to be Rhodes' Scholars: https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.cc388a970c5e5e8a008ac0fa...

Re: 9th Pick

I’m 100% convinced we’re going edge rusher at 9. I don’t see Poles taking a guy that will end up playing RT for us 9th overall..Not that I don’t love Paris Johnson, I just think Poles thinks he can find a RT later. With that said, what are your thoughts on the guys below assuming a trade back isn’t...

Re: Whitehair starting C for 2023 Bears?

I dont think Leatherwood is in the plans. I may be wrong. But, I would have thought he would have played more last season if he was. I also believe Whitehair is more of a luxury than the plan at this point. We know he can play and we do not know who we get in the draft yet. Plans for him may change...

Re: Bengals OT Jonah Williams requests trade

Nice article regarding arm length and it's realistic importance. https://www.pff.com/news/does-arm-length-affect-ot-play I'm not saying whether the article is right or wrong, but one thing in it is mistaken. It says to look at how much 3/4 of an inch is, but that's not really the case. The arm leng...

I think in general you're right - with the caveat that most defenses are a lot more flexible and creative these days, and move guys around. Having a play-making, pass-defending shut-down corner for the > 50% of the time they won't be in a straight-up 4-3 / T2 alignment seems like a really good idea...

I think that's hopelessly naïve and/or biased. Rich/famous/powerful people skate on things they shouldn't all the time. College athletes often get strings pulled for them. This is a very deep draft for TEs. The guy I like is Zach Kuntz from Old Dominion. 6'7" with 4.55 speed. Alot of TEs I like in FA and the draft this year. I honestly would like another one to pair with kmet. I wouldnt be upset with a FA and a draft pick, and Kuntz is one of the prospects I lik...

Side note on Greg Gabriel. Don't get me wrong. I really like the guy, and he often has very astute takes, but damn he can be woefully wrong at times too. Here's what he said after the PJ Walker signing: "I don’t think Walker was signed to be #2 but rather the #3 QB. Simian is still on the roste...

So tell me IE, if Herbert is so much better than Monty, how do explain the fact that David started every game he was healthy (even many he wasn't completely so) and the coaches gave him twice as many carries as Herbert and more than three times the targeted passes?
