Re: The 2024 Draft

I really like the idea of giving up one of our 2025 2nd's + for a 2nd tonight, preferably in the 30's but can see Poles saying put as well. Having 2 5 year rookie contract bluechip playmakefs is going to be awesome. There will be enough CAP over the next 3-4 years to compensate the homegrown talent....

Re: The 2024 Draft

The cost to trade into round II tonight will be prohibitive, but I would venture to say our 2025 2nd plus a 2026 3rd is what it might take to get into the high 30's, so you can then you can try for JPJ. Other than that I'd do the same but a 2026 4th for a 2nd rounder in the 40's. For pick 3.75 I'd t...

Interesting stats regarding hit/miss rates for 1st round picks between 2000/19. This was based on whether a 2nd contract was signed with the drafting team.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

https://x.com/Chicago_NFL/status/1777483936718803166 This is really interesting Food for Thought. One of the things Poles said to McAfee a couple of weeks ago (in response to RG3’s asinine comments) is that he and his braintrust were hired to “Break a cycle.” One could identify that cycle as “load ...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

LOVED Scooby-Doo as a kid. Wake up early on Saturdays and watch cartoons. I'd also get up early during the week and watch the Little Rascals. It was the first show to come on during the week (PSA - for our younger viewers networks didn't always run 24-hours per day. At some point they would just br...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

I see a good possibility of Poles sticking to the 4 pick draft this year and stacking the offense (WR at 9) for 2 primary reasons:

1. Give Williams as many weapons as possible.
2. In case Allen bolts which is a possibility, however premature it may be right now.

Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

Allen turned down a pay cut. He turned down a multi-year extension with the Chargers; it is thought that this is because he didn't like the salary level he would had under it. So it is possible that he would accept an extension but is looking for more than the Bears will be willing to pay. I'd hold...

Soooo.... if the Cardinals are open for business would you: Trade this year's 1.9 and a 2025 2nd+ for the 4th if MHJ is still on the board?

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

Nabers is so special that I'd challenge the coaches to deal with whatever perceived diva-ness he has. The WRs we have right now are rock-solid all-business guys who will definitely help. Odunze is a little less special IMO but he's a great fit to a group that could use a tall ball-winner. The OT qu...

Re: Our current roster view + needs

With all the JF debate now in the real view mirror it's time to focus on the draft and in particular that sweet spot pick at # 9. The # 1 pick is seemingly a foregone conclusión to be CW, so no need to bandy about that anymore. Poles may pick up 1 or 2 more vet minimum signings but I'd consider FA a...

Re: 2024 Minor Offseason Signings

Vacation was great, the Canary Islands are a fantastic vacation spot. As for FA signings, Poles made another stealth move, only question is that 5M in CAP for the bonus which the Chagers should pay. It's a roster bonus payable 3/17 not part of his signing bonus. It's paid by whose ever roster he's ...

Re: 2024 NFL Free Agency chatter, there will be punch and pie

If Poles trades out of 1.9 to get a late teens 1st rounder and a 40's 2nd rounder then yeah I could see one of those 2nd tier DE's getting picked.

Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

To be fair, view this situation through the lens of somebody who - has routinely viewed and played football through the lens of high school/collegiate levels - grew up in times when the NFL was much less QB-driven and not nearly as valuable I think there's a lot of logical, if not old-fashioned pos...

Give me Wonnum for DE, OBJ or Reynolds for WR3. Then we roll with that into the draft. Maybe Reader for DT depth and another IOL depth piece. Re: Bears trade 4th rd pick to Chargers for WR Keenan Allen

The CAP hit being reported is kinda fishy. Normally the trading team eats any bonus money structured into the current deal which means the Bears should only be on the hook for 18M. I'd look at extending him after the season for something like 2/22M with 14M guaranteed and a 12M signing bonus if he k...

Not counting the three guys the Bears have acquired or the futures contract guys, I think the Bears only have like 40 players under contract. Unless they absolutely believe in a handful of those futures players...SOME moves are going to have to be made. Plus another sobering fact: https://twitter.c...
