Re: Bears Acquire Joe Thuney
That's the $10 mil question and then if we end up with a pick at #20 or above what are the chances of getting one of the best? Theoretically they could wait until next March before extending Jones to see if they had a shot at replacing him or if they believed they had a solution in house but ...

Re: Free Agency News and Rumors
I swear, Caleb may be the very first $90-$100 mil a year QB.
Let's see. Assume cap grows at 8% a year between now and 2029. Top QB contracts up to ~23% of cap. That could be about 87M by the time he's ready for year 1 of extension. May need to outpace 8% growth which it easily could ...

Re: Bears Acquire Joe Thuney
I'm sticking to my guns in saying that I'll be very surprised if they draft a pure OT prospect this year. I like Caleb Rogers on day 2, but he's probably an interior player that can play OT in a pinch.
Poles and Co do a pretty good job at looking ahead at drafts too, and next year there are ...

Re: 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I suspect we'll see a whole lot of rumors about Jeanty right up to the time the pick is announced. I've seen 1st round projections of him going as early as #6 to LV and as late as #20 to DEN. It's pretty easy to start rumors of him going to the Bears since another RB is pretty much the one thing ...

Re: Bears Acquire Joe Thuney
After hearing Greg Gabriel's comment about an extension for Thuney I'm convinced it will happen. Thuney appears to be quite happy he was traded to Chicago so he should be amenable to an extension with some added guaranteed $$$ and we'd be foolish not to get him extended.

Skip Bayless believes he's a lot of things he isn't. You nailed Smith perfectly. His entire shtick seems to be playing obnoxious.....or is it playing?
SAS just signed a $100M contract. He clearly knows exactly who he is and what his audience wants. And so does ESPN.

Re: Where the roster stands on 3/14
I assumed that "Swift" was an autocorrect because he was talking about Tyler Scott and then suddenly switched to Swift. Looking at OverTheCap, cutting Swift now would be prohibitive (negative cap savings), and you'd save a paltry $610K after June first (while eating 8.7MM in dead money). Scott, on ...

I'm out on trying to find a LT in this draft. If they want to try Campbell there, then I won't complain about it, but there are other prospects that aren't as much of a guess...and I'm over the team guessing with high draft picks.
I firmly believe it will be either Jeanty or a defensive player ...

Dexter is no where near quick enough to play DE in a 4-3, another questionable use of personnel by Flus.
It's not like Flus was playing Dexter as a wide 9. Dex moved to DE as 4-tech (occasionally 5-tech) while a safety came up and played the Sam LB role. I don't have a PFF subscription so I ...

Here's something interesting. The Bears tendered Chris Williams @ $3.263 mil. Zacch Pickens cap hit is only $1.572 mil and $1.274 mil cash. Neither are guaranteed money of course but this would seem to indicate they don't have a whole lot of faith in Pickens improving much.

I have to admit for the first time in the Ryan Poles era I have no idea who he'll take in round one or where. There are so many directions he could go in this year and still get a good player that it's just too unpredictable.

Mykel Williams ran a 4.73 40 at Georgia's pro day yesterday. May not cut it for a Bears pass rusher.
Not great when 335lb Kenneth Walker wasn't that much slower.
But his 10 yard split time was roughly the same as Shemar Stewart and it's that kind of explosiveness off the snap that coaches ...

The original post here is indicative of the Bears being in good shape roster-wise. They enter the draft with no absolute needs. Every draft pick can be someone who causes a lesser player to get cut, because the bears have a "starter" at every spot (even RB).
I think the plan is to have a ...
