Re: Ryan Poles Presser

Yea, it is what it is. If we had known what we were going to ultimately do with him we’d never have drafted him. We should have fired Nagy / Pace a year earlier - I was begging for that. But Bears, we wait and then Mis-timed the QB window with a lame duck season followed by a coaching change/new of...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

His teammate Adisa Isaac is also a kid who may fit as DE in a rotation. The guy I would love to see the Bears draft though is Mo Kamara. He doesn't fit what Flus wants as far as his physical stature goes but the kid is a flat out mean ass "baller" who produces. I doubt Poles will draft hi...

NFL Rules Change for Kick Offs

I'm curious about this move and what appears to be a final destruction of what we commonly thought of as "The Hester Rule" back in the day. The new structure seems to be directed toward offense starting in much better field position than their own 25 yard line which is what we've been accu...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

So the Jahns and Fishbain exercise in the #9 pick thread gave me a good idea to kill some time with some talk other than CW13. Based off Poles' comments yesterday it seems the team is targeting OL, DL, and WR in addition to QB. Assuming the Bears do not trade I am going to list the top 2 guys avail...

Re: Caleb Williams News and Rumor thread

Maybe we should also thank Poles and acknowledge his forward thinking as far as taking advantage of the deal he made last year that put him in the situation he's in now where he can draft a QB of his choosing in a draft where the talent is there. If CW does somehow end up being all he's been hyped t...

"I have him lower than Maye on this list for that last reason. For as jaw-dropping as he can be creating outside the pocket as a runner and a how-did-he-find-that-receiver thrower, I'm slightly worried about him resorting to that backyard style a bit too much in the NFL and how sustainable it ...

Re: Bears Big Board at current slots

Seems to me that somewhere along the line Poles needs to find another DT capable of competing for a roster spot. Depending on how far he wants to trade back from #9, I could see him targeting Murphy from Texas. Possible but he drafted two DT last year and both he and Flue have hopes Dexter will bec...

Assuming he doesn't turn 4 picks into 11 picks like he did his first year, I could see him looking for a NT type after the draft.
Who? Any prospects come to mind?

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

I can never judge where a dividing line is between fringe day three and day four guys. That farther down in round three you get the more it seem to be either scheme fit or BPA on that teams board. Fiske is a tweener type guy. A little heavier than a DE and a lighter than a typical DT unless you want...

Re: Haason Reddick

He doesn't quite meet Poles' standards for a DE, being 6'1" and 240 lbs; Poles likes them bigger. But he's fast, has 58 career sacks, and Poles is supposedly enamored with Dallas Turner for those qualities to balance out Sweat as a power rusher. Send Philly back the 4th from moving down one pi...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

Adams Jahns and Kevin Fishbain each posted a four round predictive mock today. I liked all of the players selected but one. Re: IOL thoughts

But the bigger question is can TJ be extended? My belief is Poles has handled the extension of two of his best homegrown players so far so I have no reason to believe he can't get a deal done with Jenkins that suits both parties. But until it's done all we know is he's in the final year of his curr...

Re: IOL thoughts

Jenkins missed time last season but not due to recurrences of previous injuries. I do find it mildly amusing that people always emphasise the need to build the OL and how the Bears have consistently failed do so and then they unearth a guy who's head and shoulders above anyone they've had for years...

I was never hung up on the ownership deal. Neither was I. I guarantee everyone here that the partial ownership thing didn't come directly from Caleb himself. He knows enough about the NFL to recognize that's just not a deal that a rookie can make. Hell, it may not even possible for a vet to get tha...

Re: What value would Braxton Jones have?

Lemme also add that no one should trade a 25 year old with two years starting experience with two years left on his rookie contract for a 4th round pick without losing his job. You wouldn't make that trade 'til after you'd drafted his replacement anyway so any picks you'd get for him would be in 202...

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure no one has any doubts about Caleb Williams as a football talent. (I certainly don't.) Any concerns about him are about his intangibles. If those are good? He's a complete no-brainer selection, the kind of guy you sprint up to the podium to draft. And nothing any...

Re: What value would Braxton Jones have?

I'll never understand the rush to replace Braxton. If he was picked at like #20 everyone would be talking about how the Bears stole him. He's arguably the 2nd or 3rd best OT to come out of that draft. I get that the probability of the best value for pick #9 is likely a tackle, but that just means a...

Re: IOL thoughts

In Poles we trust. Our of all the positional groups he should have the best handle on the future of the OL and how he wants to structure it. He took a shotgun approach his first year, getting a bunch of low round picks and finding one keeper/starter. I don't know if that will work again as for now ...

Re: Ranking the new additions

And yet the Bears may see him as backup LT? They also signed Curhan who seems to a RT. Poles added some vet depth all across the OL but is quality high enough to resist drafting another OL in round one? I see Curhan as more of a potential backup at guard. Could be that as well. We know they like OL...

Re: What value would Braxton J ones have?

I don't either. Although I wouldn't rule it out if Poles trades down. Poles has also expressed his satisfaction with Jones development from a 5th round pick to a rookie starter at LT and in his improvement in year two. If I had to project an OL in round one is would be one of those more like Darnel...

Re: IOL thoughts

With regards to Jenkins' availability, it's worth noting in the past two seasons he's played in 25 games the exact same number as Jaylon Johnson who's just signed a lucrative 4 year extension. Agreed, and Poles was able to get an extension with JJ done. But one caveat I would add is that a shut dow...

Re: "The NFL QB Who Didn't Give A ****"

What would Cutler have done with the right coaching staff? He was Fields before Fields. That pretty much sums it up. Cutler went from the frying pan of a Josh McDaniel coached Bronco team to a Lovie Smith coached Bears team who never managed to find him the support he needed at OC or WR until the O...

Mine are not much different than others have expressed. Jenkins is a potential All Pro OG but we also know that Poles treasures availability nearly equally with raw ability. First off, Alt may be the best LT in this class but he may not be the plug and play pro everyone is counting on. And if he is he probably wouldn't be much of an immediate improvement over Jones who had a respectable if not spectacular year. The NFL draft comp is Mike McGlinchey, which is good but n...
