Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa
Should we change the title of this to "The Post Draft Remorse Thread"? Should we start a list of all those players we could've drafted instead and what they might have contributed? Feel free to start one if you want. https://tse2.explicit.bing.net/th?id=OIP.CJtq4RscQAtJr0-2qHTUOAHaHa&...

I can't wait for the first time a kicker makes it to him and he goes back to his AFL roots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp9a6ex7RJQ. From a glance he seems fairly versatile in his kicks which might account for some of the stats like hang time. I.e. if it's a better option to hoof it behind the ...

Re: 2024 Draft: Is This Our Greatest Draft Ever?
I was like 5 when the Bears last won the super bowl, so yeah...I'd like to be able to root for a team that is relevant in this century. Well some of us were full fledged adults and we still enjoy watching 40 year old videos of one of the best defenses ever put on an NFL field. The older I get the m...

Re: R5 P144: Austin Booker, Edge - Kansas
This year I think we should be hoping he fill a Mark Anderson type role. Situational rusher who is told “see QB, hit QB.” Walker gets the bulk of snaps opposite Sweat and moves inside on passing downs and he goes to DE. Then as others have said with a year of NFL training/nutrition he can play next...

Re: R5 P144: Austin Booker, Edge - Kansas
Word is Booker weighed in at 253lbs at his pro day. If that's accurate he's already working on gaining some bulk. Give him a year with an NFL nutritionist and some weight training and he'll probably play around 255lbs give or take. I alluded to this and one podcast Imsaw speculated he came into the...

Re: 2024 Draft: Is This Our Greatest Draft Ever?
1983 was pretty darned good... Jimbo Covert Willie Gault Mike Richardson Dave Duerson Tom Thayer Richard Dent Mark Bortz And none of those players also involved paying an exorbitant salary which come along with Sweat and Allen. The payroll for the entire 1983 team was probably less than the $23 mil...

Re: The 2024 Draft
It might just come down to whether Jenkins takes a hometown discount. With his injury history, the team needs to have a backup plan in place, and that backup plan alone cuts into his leverage over his next contract. Which means that some other team, more willing or desperate to take a gamble on his...

Some behind the scenes maneuvering to get Rome to the Bears: https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/the-true-mastermind-who-got-rome-odunze-to-chicago-has-been-revealed/ Worked out damn well for the Bears. Ya' gotta figure a whole lot of luck and magic went into these last two drafts. We lucke...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington
Honestly... I'm probably going to end up posting how this draft is a huge shot in the dark. I actually like this draft, but I'm skeptical as fuck. Statistics, logic, common sense, suppressing emotion, are my leaders. Yet on paper this WR group is legit as fuck. DJ Moore is a stud, I put him against...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa
What's done is done. They obviously weren't happy with Gill and what other player they may have drafted would they have gotten more use out of than Taylor? Poles got his OL in round three and while I felt round four would be used on a DE we ended up getting him in round five anyway so we didn't miss...

Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale
?? I'm still curious/confused by this. Did I miss Poles criticizing Tevin's arm length multiple times? I'm puzzled by that as well. Jenkins' arms are 33 1/2" and while his knuckles don't exactly drag on the floor it's not like he has alligator arms either. Darnell Wright's arms are only 33 3/4.

Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale
As it stands I don't see Jones playing inside as much as I can see either Wright or Amengadjie playing there. We have three guys drafted as OT all of whom can play OG. If Jones can make that transition then we'd have a very young and versatile OL. As for Amengadjie he's got some work to do before h...

If you mean "is he literally capable of making letters, words, and sentences?", I'm fairly sure he is. If you mean "does he have professional writing credits?", no, I don't think so. Apparently, Mr. McNown is doing just fine for himself. https://www.linkedin.com/in/cmcnown?utm_s...

Re: R3 P75: Kiran Amegadjie, OT - Yale
I also think you could slide Braxton inside for 2025 and have him play RG when the Bears cut Davis' ass for another year of futility. What if our starting OL in 2025 was; Amegadjie - Jenkins - Shelton - Jones - Wright I don't know if Jones can play OG, but if he can then I'd keep him on the left an...

Yup, another huge benefit and we added yet another OL this year who has a good shot at becoming a starter within two years. I'm hoping Tevin Jenkins finally makes it through an entire 17 game season and makes an All Pro team. I think Poles would love to keep him but he's gotta show he can play a fu...

Re: R4 P122: Tory Taylor, P - Iowa
Yeah, I think we sometimes forget about how crucial field position can be in tight games. This kid has a knack for planting kicks near the goal line that don't bounce into the end zone and can be downed deep. Gill was not getting the job done. ST are 1/3 of the game and we needed some upgrading ther...

Re: The 2024 Draft
Having Moore still on the deal he signed with Carolina is a real boon since his cap cost is only $16 mil this year and next. That's what makes Allen affordable now and through 2025. The question with Allen is will he accept a one year extension or will he be looking for one more longer term deal. T...

Re: The 2024 Draft
Merging some of the rando draft related threads. Thank you. It was getting sort of confusing. DJ Moore will be just 29 in 2026 so I believe that if he's healthy and productive Poles will look to extend him for another 3-4 years during the 2025 season. These two expiring deals is one reason why draf...

If Poles went out of his way to acquire both of those guys--with the intension of not paying either--then he should be fired. Like, tomorrow.
