Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington

I did some analysis. The Bears ranked 28 last year with 30.2 passing attempts per game. Middle of the pack is about 34, so let's assume that, which makes for 578 attempts. For reference Seattle, with Waldron, attempted 547 passes. They were distributed like this: Tyler Lockett (WR) - 122, 22.3% DK ...

Re: The 2024 Draft

From listening to Poles presser he got precisely who he set out to draft at #9 if he was still on the board. He said Cunningham even needed to talk him down from trading up. There's no doubt at all that Poles will do everything and anything he can be make certain CW can succeed in a big way. I know ...

Re: R1 P1: Caleb Williams, QB - USC

I would love for the Bears to get an edge rusher at 75, but I’m so happy right now I don’t even care. That's more than likely the plan and there are a handful that are ranked to go somewhere around the #75 pick. Given how much of a waste spending $10 mil on Ngakoue was last year you figure Poles sh...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington

So far, we've invested this draft in Montez Sweat Keenan Allen Caleb Williams Rome Odunze Ryan Bates Some guy from Palos Hills or something N'Keal Harry Even with the last two guys, that list is obscene. Pretty amazing eh? Now add in what he got outta that trade last year with Wright, Stevenson, an...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington

I have to reorient my brain here. We intend to win with offense and out score people. It’s…..huh. Such a foreign concept for me, but should be fun Had to happen eventually. The other approach hasn't been working for well over a decade now. The defense we have is good and it's young so it should get...

Re: R1 P9: Rome Odunze, WR - Washington

Not only the BPA at #9 but also a kid that was ranked as high as #6 overall. Five years (with option) of team control over both a QB and a top WR under rookie contracts. QB and WR are the two highest paid positions in the NFL and Poles provided a "rent controlled" passing duo that should h...

Odunze it is. Guess his playing catch with CW and the other Bears WR was a little bit of a tip off.

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

I agree that MHJr is the best bet of the bunch. WR3 in this draft, not so much. And yet scouts and analysts much smarter and more experienced than you or I have them graded nearly the same and all three are ranked within the top six picks. You're trying to back a position that in this draft with th...

Re: Is It Too Soon For Thoughts On Pick #9?

I've been running this logic through my head and I'm not liking the answer I keep coming up with. WR just isn't making logical sense to me. We traded a 4th for Allen. We are taking CW at #1. Allen is a UFA after this season, and we aren't really in a position to think Super Bowl this year. So, a lo...

Can’t miss guys don’t exist. That's an old and broken platitude you want to use to counter a term that means something different than you're trying to make it. It's not a literal term and not reality when seen this way. The odds of a failure due to lack of talent are far lower with top picks who ar...

And have the Packers defenses generally been better than ours? In general I'd say no. We have typically drafted much better for defense than they have while they kicked our asses with their offenses. But let's look at another factor. Over the past 22 years where as GB typically been drafting? More ...

I still gotta chuckle about how fans want to keep drafting for defense because that's a Bears tradition. So pass on a more elite player at #9 so we can draft two or three more less elite players with a later 1st round pick and a couple day two picks. Quantity over top quality. We already know how t...

I'll take a shot at it. Where do you want me to start because you've pretty much thrown the whole garden at this. Let's start with we aren't competing for a SB this year (probably not) but we are bringing in a rookie QB and giving him a target many will call one of the most QB friendly WR in the NF...

If I'm not mistaken the NFL pays that performance bonus from a pool set up for that reason. Regardless I'd say Borom is a potential trade prospect or a vet cut in Sept. I was thinking they should . OTC and Spotrac both have his cap hit/nbr at 3.1, though. Saw that. All I could find was info that se...

Kamara is a LB at the next level. More likely than not a 3-4 OLB but it all depends on who drafts him and how they line him up. The Broncos had Elvis Dumervile who was even shorter than Kamara. He managed to have a very good NFL career playing both as a DE and as an OLB. He was a very productive co...

Nor would I. Not when that's the kind of AAV we're talking about for Moore. Poles is not gonna pay two WR that kind of money. But one advantage we do have is that Moore's current deal is not very costly at roughly $16 mil per year for 2024-2025. That makes it possible to pay Allen his $23 mil this ...

I've considered that possibility, too. It does make some sense. I can't see them doing it, in the end, though. They need something to sell their fanbase on. And there's nothing better suited to doing that than a shiny new QB. Dude, the odds of Keenan Allen retiring as a Bear are high. You don't spe...
